Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Sage Intacct takes care of all of our accounting for over 100 different legal entities. We used to manage all of our accounting in MRI and, in my experience, it was just an outdated system that struggled to keep up with our operations accounting. Sage Intacct has been great at solving pain points we had in MRI. We now have a better handle on our A/R, ACH payments are much smoother, and system connectivity is way better with Sage Intacct.

I think Sage Intacct is great. We have a complex business structure at [...] and it handles a variety of challenges that different businesses at [...] present. I do think that anything real estate focused can be challenging in Sage Intacct. For instance we do the accounting for the office building we own and manage. Sage Intacct leaves a little bit to be desired here as it doesn’t support tenant billings, etc.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Sage Intacct is our accounting software. We are in the healthcare industry and it meets our needs there. It is easy to use and easy to remedy mistakes that I have made (e.g., I posted a journal entry twice and I was able to fix that issue easily). I would recommend Sage.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We moved to Sage Intacct as our accounting software in April 2023. We specifically chose it for its flexibility in the structure of our chart of accounts and superior reporting capabilities. Since going live, we have added additional modules to our subscription, allowing us a dynamic system that is useful to all budget managers and decision makers within our organization.

Pros

The dimension-based structure of the chart of accounts gives great flexibility for reporting.
Dashboards and reports are easily created to provide department-specific KPIs at a glance.
The permissions structure allows for great internal transparency while still protecting confidential data.
The fixed asset module that auto-calculates depreciation and disposal entries is a huge time-saver.
With automatic bank feeds and transaction matching rules, bank reconciliations take minutes.

Cons

The fixed asset management module is very new and needs further development. Currently more complex depreciation such as impairments has to be performed outside of the module.
The inability to reclassify only certain types of payments (not credit cards) is arbitrary and frustrating.

Likelihood to Recommend

Sage Intacct is a very robust system, and the pricing reflects that reality. An especially budget-conscious organization may struggle to articulate the value proposition, but it has been well worth it for us. Since transitioning to Sage Intacct, we have lost 2 part-time employees to general attrition (about 1.5 FTE) and have not needed to replace them due to the efficiencies that we've developed.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We have three business users and dozens of regular users who use or will use Sage Intacct daily. Sage Intacct gives us access to quicker, more reliable data because it integrates with our other items and is user-friendly. We are looking forward to continuing to unlock more of the power that Sage Intacct can bring to our business.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use it across multiple entities that we manage and the ability to automate intercompany has made consolidation much more efficient.

Pros

Intercompany transactions are automated and reduces workload for us.
Custom reports are easy to create.
Overal user interface is very straightforward and was easy for my team to quickly get used to.

Cons

Navigating through intercompany transactions can improve. Instead of a generic memo generated, I would have preferred the memo be copied from the original journal so that it is easier to identify what they are related to.
Creating groupings of private entities and unable to cross-post entities as a result had also been frustrating when managing silo'd teams.
Would be nice to have a parent-sub account structure where you can designate parent accounts as "non-posting" and be able to pull aggregated data easily.

Likelihood to Recommend

Overall, have like the straight forward structure and navigation of Sage Intacct. As a previous NetSuite user, I think Sage Intacct has shown stronger capabilities to handle multi-entity structures but it probably was a little extra effort on the team to get used to than with my experience with NetSuite.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Sage Intacct for monthly financial reporting, entering journal entries and other transactions, and pulling reports for analysis of the financials. The product helps me to organize and accurately report on financial data on a monthly or yearly basis. It is also integrated with our bank, which makes AP payments simple and streamlined.

Pros

It is fairly easy to copy an existing report and modify it to create custom reports.
Available integrations with various other software assists me by automating data entry.
It is intuitive and user friendly, while at the same time, being robust enough to handle the accounting functions of a medium sized business.

Cons

I would like the ability to reclassify credit card transactions after they have been entered.
I would like to be able to utilize allocations with credit card transactions. This would eliminate a manual journal entry that I need to make every month to accommodate this missing feature.
I would like to be able to drill down on all values in all reports.

Likelihood to Recommend

I think Sage Intacct is well suited to a medium size business that reports in multiple dimensions. It is a bit too robust for a very small company and probably not quite enough for a very large company. It has most of the features and capabilities that are needed by my organization and seems to be the best choice for us.

We use Sage Intaact (along with the related product Sage SIP) as our ERP solution. For our purposes, this mainly means a general ledger and the FP&A solution. Before Sage Intacct, we were on Quickbooks, which we found was not sophisticated enough to manage custom reporting, maintain internal governance, or do FP&A analysis.

Cons

I would love to see Sage Intacct have a feature that allows a user to see the G/L impact of a journal entry before it is submitted
The dashboard feature has a steep learning curve

Sage Intacct is a great solution for growing organizations or for established organizations with full-time finance and accounting staff members who need more advanced accounting features. I would not recommend Sage Intacct for small businesses with headcounts below ten who are reliant on external accountants for doing things like audit management or tax preparation.

Sage Intacct is our main accounting system. We process all of our business transactions, use the fixed assets module, and also leveraging the reporting capabilities for our monthly, quarterly, and annual reports. We utilize dynamic allocations to allocate corporate expenses across different business units. We are also a reseller of the software and provide consulting services for Sage Intacct implementations.

Sage Intacct is extremely well suited for our software company. We are able to keep track of different project implementations using the Sage Intacct projects module. We are also able to keep track of different project requirements using dimensions. When it comes to reporting, we are able to be more granular in our reports because we use product dimensions when recording journal entries to create P&Ls using product and business unit dimensions.

Our business primarily drops products off at a large number of vendors. Sage Intacct has the best features for all sides of our business transactions. We also have our inventory of products that we sell, and we can use Sage Intacct to track our inventory items throughout many different warehouses.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We'd been using Sage Intacct primarily as a bookkeeping tool, but have recently been restructuring our accounting dimensions to have a more robust picture of the company. Sage Intacct has the capacity to allow multiple department budgets with differing funding streams, and use of sub-dimensions will allow us to get multiple views of intersecting projects over time.

Likelihood to Recommend

Intacct can work best for organizations with complex and variable funding streams because the reporting feature can be crafted to show the financial picture through multiple lenses IF it's set up properly. As a non-profit, this is ideal for our agency, though I can see these types of features being less helpful at a for-profit, private company looking to track vendor expenses and simple revenue streams.
