Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We run our B2B E-Commerce platform on SAP Commerce Cloud (CCV2). Business employees are our customers and they log into our Storefront which is built out of Composable Storefront and transact. SAP Commerce Cloud forms the core of our services as it is the only platform that we expose to our customers.

Pros

Builds the basic components of n e-comm platform very well - like the storefront, cart, checkout, PLP, PDP etc.
The decoupling of the storefront with the backend Hybris system is a great recent gain after we migrated out UI to Spartacus
We use SmartEdit very effective as our single CMS system to manage all web content real time.

Cons

The interface to SmartEdit could be better
Promos are we resource intensive. running multiple promos sometimes slows the platform down
Managing jobs can be made better. Sometimes jobs get stuck and there is no active notifications sent.

Likelihood to Recommend

SAP Commerce Cloud is well suited for enterprises that need a scalable e-comm website up and running quickly. It scales well to multiple geo locations and launching multiple store sites is a breeze.

SAP Commerce Cloud struggles when the traffic is high. The platform hardware resource utilization is high, especially memory. So it may not be ideal for a very large e-comm site without spinning up large number of API nodes.

The interface can be a little snappier

SAP Commerce Cloud is actually quick and one stop solution for businesses to operate from web, mobile or even at retail store. The best part of SAP is you are a inclusive part of SAP ecosystem where you can easily segregate your data for various analytics and operational purpose for better business optimization.

Pros

it has comprehensive features like product information management, customer segregation, order management and reporting.
It can have all the data at one place even if business is operating from online e-commerce store or from retail store.
We all know about the innovation, the optimized system , the security and the easiness of integrating any sap product to sap ecosystem.

Cons

The advantage is also a room, like we really need sap eco-system for better output. Standalone running SAP product is very hard
Obviously costly
maintenance and the customization is really tedious job

1. Multiple store over ecommerce platform or retail across various location can be managed in one place.

2. Managing inventory and tracking is much easier f we have everything in one place.

3. Managing order in one place across all the stores in one place gives better analytics and visibility for business to understand customer as well.

Altogether, it was proved that the application of SAP Commerce Cloud has significant positive effects on our marketing campaigns. SAP Commerce Cloud in general has, in my opinion, a major role to play for our marketing campaigns. A broad toolkit available has allowed us to experiment and iterate decisions rapidly using data that is present.

Pros

Provides analytics of the campaign, which enables the necessary changes to be made immediately.
Supports individual communications, as it helps to improve the overall satisfaction of customers and their loyalty to the company/brand.
Coordinates all the activities to maintain the free flow of data between different sectors in business to enhance efficiency.

Cons

For the initial configuration, one can expect it may take a considerable amount of time and even specialist knowledge.
Some of them are better suited for large business organizations, which may restrict the versatility of applications.
It may be resource intensive, which can be a problem for a smaller hosting environment for the platform.

Likelihood to Recommend

One thing to mention is that we had a flash sale campaign that was monitored by SAP Commerce Cloud, where it was easy to adjust ad spend because all the data was available immediately, leading to an increase in conversion. Easy integration with other SAP products has made our work flow more organic; this, in turn, has given better efficiency across the team.

We use SAP Commerce Cloud mainly for enabling our business to create a unique personalised and seamless shopping experience for our customers. It also provides feature rich digitally scalable solutions which we can easily deploy on our cloud premises. It really helped us to boost our revenues by almost 20%.

It provides the scalable solution for seamless shopping experience
It links supply chain and demand signals with end to end process
It supports complex B2B and B2B2C models easily

Cons

May be they can reduce the pricing little bit so that it can become more affordable
There is a scope to add more features in the dashboard
The integration takes some time and it is bit complex

We implement SAP Commerce Cloud for our clients. Specifically, we use it to provide an end-to-end solution for eCommerce purchasing and customer support tool. We have leveraged the ASM tool to provide customer support allowing agents to use the real website to address customer issues. We also leverage SAP Commerce Cloud to list products on website, add to cart and then checkout.

Out-of-box APIs for quick implementation
Promotion engine to maintain coupons, discounts, etc.

Cons

In my opinion, difficult user experience
In my experience, requires lots of training for end users

During Covid, we realized and started this journey of marking our presence in Cloud as a central platform to facilitate our Dealers and specially Customers the delight of ordering, tracking, servicing and feedback at one place. Prior to that we do not have any single delight place, for Sales, Service and Parts business. But now Customers as well Dealers and do, chatting, video conferencing, ordering, online payment, raise complains and provide feedback at one place.

Order and Invoice generation
Integration with other SAP systems, like S4HAHA, BYD

Cons

Payment gateway integration should be easy
Back Office should be more easily understandable
Easy customization

Product portfolio showcasing and management, look and feel, integration with other systems are few key features that gives great comfort to the organization, whereas the back office should be made easier to user, so that they can do the configuration on their own, and dependency from Vendors for such cases can be minimized.

Standard in-built reports for admins like Order details, Dispatch details, Customer master, Inventory report (Sold and unsold items). All reports in tabular format like we have in SAP S/4 HANA ERP
Standard Dashboard for Admins showing top customers, top selling SKUs, Most searched products
Simple yet detailed report on integration failure logs which admins can read and understand the problem statement. Hints on resolving the issue.
Objectwise change log report for particular date range
Backoffice should be made simple for use. As of now admins struggle to find the information. Navigation is very poor in backoffice.
