I've used Veeam for about 5 years to backup our VMWare environment. Backing up containers has allowed me to have back ups of the VMs. By backing up the containers, I don't have to create new backup jobs when new VMs are created but I can edit and exclude vms I don't want to back up.
Pros
ease of use
technical support
VeeamOne conference is the best
Cons
Backing up Google workspace
Less marketing emails

VMWare backups are so easy. Backup copies offsite is a great built in feature
We use Veeam Data Platform for server backups and replications. Also we use it for application based backups and recovery. Active Directory, Exchange, SQL. We backup to on prem NAS devices and also to Immutable Cloud object storage such as Wasabi. We need to be able to recover quickly from multiple backup repositories.
Pros
Full Server Backups to NAS servers
Full Server Replication to Direct attached storage on VmWare host servers
Recovers Exchange mailbox's and Active Directory users
Cons
Would like to see them offer pro services to configure and ensure optimal settings in the software
Pro Services for configuring Veeam Recovery Orchestrator
Pro Services to configure Veeam One
Likelihood to Recommend
In a virtual environment Veeam Data Platform is the premiere go to product for backups and recovery. It seems to be more cumbersome to backup physical servers as more configuration is required.

We use Veeam Data Platform to keep backups of production systems, both for the interests of various departments, but also to keep up with retention regulations. From an IT prospective Veeam makes it really easy to migrate to new servers when they reach EOL or have hardware malfunctions, and it also helps keep users happy when a file they accidentally deleted a week ago would take them several hours to recreate.
Veeam Data Platform has specifically came in clutch for me during our migration away from VMWare due to the increased licensing costs. Its as simple as doing a quick backup of the VMWare VM, then doing an instant restore to Hyper-V/Proxmox and the downtime for our users is under 10 minutes, even for VMs that are 5TB+ in size and take several hours to migrate.
Another time Veeam Data Platform has been very useful to me was when a departments server had its Raid controller fail: I was able to instantly restore the server to a backup DR server and had them up and running in a couple hours (Most of this was making changes to the network structure to migrate DHCP/DNS to a different server and setting up routing/firewall rules), instead of them being down for several days while we wait for new hardware to arrive
Pros
Instant recoveries are great for migrating servers to new hardware/clusters
Makes backups easy and quick even on network with low bandwidth
Provides peace of mind that backups are working as expected when set up with email alerts
Keeps detailed logs of all backups which is useful for our yearly audits
Cons
More detailed documentation on procedures when something goes wrong, rather than just having to contact Veeam support. Specific example: In the middle of a Instant Recovery to Hyper-V we had a network issue and the restore failed, however since it was an instant recovery changes were made to some documents on that restored server. I could not find documentation on how to restore files from that failed instant recovery's snapshots, but thankfully the end users just told me to not worry about it since the changed were minimal.
When adding a new VM to a backup job, "Quick Backup" doesn't work because it hasn't had its initial backup yet. It would be nice if there was also a "Full Backup" right click option on the VM in the inventory area so that I could start the backup job easily only including that single VM (Or if quick backup would do the full backup).
It would be nice if Veeam supported replication from VMWare to Hyper-V or vice versa, rather then needing to use Instant Restores to migrate. It would be nice if the bulk of a 5TB server could be migrated in advance, then quickly updating the replication with the changed data and do a quick swap over.

It is specially great when migrating VMs to servers with different technologies (VMWare/Proxmox/Hyper-V) using instant recoveries when you have good bandwidth on network and storage, however it isn't as good when you have low bandwidth as keeping an instant recovery for that long makes me nervous (And Veeam even sends an email warning when an instant recovery job has been running too long).
Its well suited when for when you have a robust environment that needs a diverse cast of server types backed up (VMs, Physical Servers, Desktops, NAS shares, etc).

We leverage Veeam Data Platform as our backup data environment solution as well as to protect us from any rasomware attacks and attempts.
Pros
Ease of data backup
Ease of data recovery
Disaster Recovery Solution from a Virtual Machine Standpoint
Cons
Direct Data Recovery from Tape Options
Creation of backup jobs with more granular calendar scheduling options so that I dont have to build separate jobs because weekly and monthly jobs may happen to fall on the same day of the month
easier way to do hybrid on prem and cloud backup solutions - ie direct to cloud backup vs. backup to on prem and then to the cloud.
Likelihood to Recommend
Its very easy to use and intuitive. You can make the backup data production jobs as simple or complex as desired with lots of customizable options.

VEEAM provides a number of critical uses to our agency. First, it acts as a backup agent to backup critical machines on a scheduled basis. If these jobs don't complete or complete with errors I am notified. Second, VEEAM creates replicas for critical virtual machines so that in a failure of a host machine, the replica can be quickly failed over and put in use. WHen the original host is restored the replica can be restored back to the original. VEEAM also works very well as a migration tool to move VM's to new hosts.
Pros
Notification of pass / fail on replication and back ups.
Native cloud backups and backups to tape
Ease of restoring replicas back to original hosts
malware detection
Cons
Difficult to initially configure cloud based backups. instructions hard to follow or did not match actual look of software
Help files are often circular or difficult to follow steps
Cloud based support is separate for normal VEEAM team causing some confusion.
Likelihood to Recommend
In a medium to large sized enterprise VEEAM is will qualified to manage multiple physical hosts and corresponding backups and replicas. It is quick to run and makes accurate copies of VM's. Quick to create replicas and to handle failovers. The reporting section of VEEAM is robust and gives good information such as when backups exceed normal expected size of if they run longer and expected.

Our data infrastructure consists of many modern and legacy line of business applications in a hybrid environment. Meeting the security, retention, and high availability needs of a public-facing municipal government requiring 24/7/365 uptime can be a tall order. Veeam Data Platform fits the bill perfectly with granular backup controls, immutable cloud hosting, and a wide array of platform support at a very reasonable price.
Pros
Customizable reporting provides at-a-glance visibility into the health of our backup infrastructure.
Integrated threat hunter capabilities ensure backup integrity and provide yet another layer of protection at the file level.
SureBackup is an amazing tool that saves time when performing DR recovery scenario testing. This feature alone frees up hours of technician time.
Integrated migration tools for various hypervisors eliminate multiple steps when moving between hosts.
Cons
Veeam Tech Support is very responsive, but user-facing failure reports could be a little more verbose for those of us who don't mind doing some troubleshooting before opening a ticket.
In our use case, I've not experienced many issues that are showstoppers.
Likelihood to Recommend
Veeam Data Platform has been a very good fit for our mixed environment and has freed up valuable technician time while remaining budget friendly. I realize this isn't often the case, but, for our application, I haven't found a workload yet that isn't supported.
I don't have much input on where it may not work, as it has been very reliable after planning and configuration for our specific needs.
