It fits well for global and also for internal team too. You can manage all of your work easily from one place without a phone or mailbox. This lets your team stick more together
My organization uses Slack as a communication tool. Group messages, individual messages, channels specific to teams.
We use this communication tool to ask questions interdepartmentally. For example, the Sales team might use our Product Knowledge channel to ask the Product Line team about limitations for a specific product.
Recently, we began automating Queue Updates for our art teams, saving 5-10 minutes daily coming up with the data to then email to the full team.
Pros
Channels - creating specific channels for their use helps keep things organized.
Google Calendar integration - super helpful to know when someone is in a meeting/available
Threads - I use this to keep questions/answers organized within channels. So that nothing get missed.
Cons
Notifying when someone has logged on/off, perhaps when you star that person.

At our workspace, we're using Slack as our means of communication (transfer of attachments, messaging with peers) to hasten our productivity. It is well suited in our company because Slack provides our basic needs when it comes to reaching our to our peers/managers and to escalate things real time.

We use Slack for Business communications, we also use it for urgent announcements that way everyone from our Line of Business will be aware since we have our own channel depending on the Line of Business. We also have separate channels for every team that we have here in our company for announcements specific to one team. That way others that are not included in that team will not be confused.
Pros
Slack has an amazing selections of Emojis, GIFs that we use as some kind of Joke sometimes depending on the topic.
Slack also has an amazing User Interface since this tool doesn't give me eye strain even if I use it for my whole shift which is 9 hours.
Slack also has the option to facilitate a huddle so if you want to call a specific person or a group and discuss something, you'll be able to discuss it to them by creating a huddle room which Slack has as an amazing feature.
Cons
I would recommend to add more emojis and GIFs
I recommend adding more advanced search options.
I recommend adding a buzz option which would notify all members in that channel.

Slack gave me an amazing experience when interacting with my colleagues and leaders because this tool helps me connect to them with ease, without even having to stand up from my station. Slack also gave me excitement and laughter because I use emojis and GIFs to make my colleagues laugh hilariously as a joke sometimes.
For my 2 years and continued use, slack has been delivering an excellent team collaboration. Meaning, it don't just provide our team a good communication platform but it also worked as a platform for helping our team members (team collaboration). Slack has feature where we can create a channel to organize different teams within the company. We can create a channel where we can post help for correct workflows for better customer experience, create a channel for bugs, or even a channel for we call it "lounge" for everyone to socialize even if you're in the other corner of the world. We can also monitor CSATs by marking the text "feeling-swell" another channel dedicated for noteworthy text from customers so our other team can send followups for checking customer satisfaction (cx support via chat/email). There's none that I can think of if you're looking for the best platform for team communication and collaboration. Slack is the key for a successful company that's operating online.
Pros
Can create channels for small, medium, or even bigger team to relay important information/updates and whatnots.
You can do one-on-one (huddle feature) if you're on-boarding a member.
A platform that can be collaborated with other platform. Example a CRM to be linked with Slack for easier comms relay.
The best feature for me so far is that you can mention a team member so he/she won't missed an important message you sent.
You can directly message about anyone within the company.
Cons
I can't think of any detailed examples of areas where Slack has room for improvement.
Everything that I currently use has been working well for me.
All feature has been working well for me.

We use Slack as our main tool to communicate with our teams and create silo department/project groups to discuss, collaborate and even include our clients in the loop. It helps us stay on track with things and makes communication much easier and simpler. The ability for Slack to connect to Apps also helps us with file sharing and input from clients as well as managing our documents.
Pros
Easily communicate with teams
Create targeted groups to filter communication
Connecting to Apps seamlessly
Cons
Group App Alerts sometimes start on the last conversation instead of the first missed conversation.
Likelihood to Recommend
It just makes communication easy between teams and when creating groups also streamlines communication as well. It works well both internally and externally with clients. Adding clients from external organizations is also easy and promotes team collaboration and offers simplicity. Its ability to integrate with apps like Jira where issues being reported can quickly get added on also provides efficient means for teams to do their jobs quicker which would give an overall better journey, especially from the communication side.

Slack is our central means of internal communication across all verticals of our business. We use Slack for individual messaging, group messaging for internal teams, themed channels for all interested participants, and company wide announcements. It provides a quick way to ask questions, provide updates, and stay informed about business initiatives when email and calling are not quick enough or appropriate.
Pros
Easy to understand organization of threads, messages, and groups
Customized preferences for sound notifications
Thread function allows separate conversations to be grouped in large group chats
Cons
Wish there was a central location to view all public channels. "Browse channels" is not comprehensive.
Wish drafts would save for longer, they often disappear after a few minutes
Had some issues uploading a photo without it distorting the proportions

Great for both in office and remote environments as a supplement to internal email. Whereas email communication can be slow and crowded, Slack allows for quick communication that is well organized. Great for corporate, internal communication that can also be utilized for outsourcing operations. For long and detailed announcements, especially ones involving legal implications, Slack should not be utilized over email.
We use Slack for 90% of our internal communication - we use it for 1:1 messaging, for group messaging and have a number of fun, non-work related channels as well. It's a great way to share all sorts of documents, quotes and images with one another.
Pros
Allows me to keep personal and professional communication private.
Allows me to quickly communicate with exactly the people I need.
Allows me to send all sorts of documents and media with ease.
Cons
Too many channels and things get confusing.
Navigation can be smoother.
So many plugins and options but you don't always know what is possible.

In my previous org my team tried to switch from WhatsApp to Slack and it didn't work - it has to be something a whole org embraces to make it valuable. I went from not understanding the point to loving Slack. It is especially valuable for someone like me who works across so many different teams.
