Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Slack as the main (and almost only) communication platform in my company. I use Slack every day to communicate with my team (we are a remote company) as it helps us to stay in constant communication and on top of all our responsibilities. With Slack, we can also have calls right away to resolve any problems.

We are a complete Remote organisation. It helps us communicate and collaborate better by providing various features. Not only the Collaborations, Slack offers various integration features which makes handling work and getting notified by important updates extremely easier. It gives amazingly large number of integrations. Also you can raise issues on JIRA, Start an instant Google meet, preview a GDrive file, no matter what device your Slack is on, it works like a dream. Slack really has taken the remote work at another level. We also manage the Admin part of Slack, it is easier to get the accesses created using various integrations again. You know how clearly it has taken care of the User end and the Admin end at another level. Also there are various basic features which helps without even making it seem like a big deal, but without them daily lives will be so difficult. Truly, an amazing job on creating this job.

Collaboration I think too primary, but it has set the bar high
GIFs, fun emojis, ooo how can I miss custom emojis, is so FUN
Integrations woah, N number of integrations to make your lives easier

Cons

some very small functionalities like Last seen is not accurate sometimes
Read recipient feature absent dont know if its a pro or a Con
limited types of access control

No external collaboration option, without giving them the access to the Workspace. I think there should be a workaround for this as well

Slack is our primary internal communication tool. We are a remote company that relies heavily on Slack to stay in contact with one another and share department and company-wide updates. We make heavy use of various channels, including both public and private, as well as direct messages (DMs). Overall, we could not function without Slack. I also use workflows to automate and improve certain processes.

Channels for teams/specific projects.
Threading to avoid clutter in channels.
Search
Organization of DMs, channels, notifications, etc.
Schedule send.

Cons

More options for saving for later.
Cleaning up the clutter of messages you've already read and responded to.
Audio on huddle.

Slack is significant for companies of all sizes because the organization it brings is proper, regardless of the company's size. It is well suited for intra/inter-department communication, company-wide information, project updates and channels, simple workflow automations, direct messaging, integrations (there are so many like Google Calendar, Gdrie, Donut, Rattle, Salesforce, etc), informal chats with Huddle, Huddle screenshare, and for use on mobile devices.

In our organization, Slack is the primary communication platform for internal collaboration across departments. We use for managing team workflows through integrations, file sharing and messaging. Slack help us to enhance remote collaboration ex: team members working in different locations can stay connected easily. It helps in replacing long email threads and helps resolve issues faster. Scope of our use case with Slack is to support both synchronous and asynchronous communication. We use Slack huddles for quick voice calls and Slack connect to collaborate with external vendors securely.

Pros

Faster incident response: with real time alerts and discussions in threads
Reduced context switching: Integrations allow us to view logs, pull requests updates and tasks assignments.
Remote Efficiency: Especially useful for our hybrid/remote setup

Cons

Thread Management gets messy
Search experience is limited
Poor performance with large message history

When a prod ETL job fails, Slack enables immediate coordination across teams. For example if a Snowflake pipeline fails alerts are posted in a monitoring channel via an Airflow integration.

Long discussions about data architecture, schema design or onboarding documents are harder to manage in Slack, Message gets burried and important insights are lost in the scroll.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Slack virtually anytime I need to communicate with one of my team members. I will shoot them a quick DM, or I can Huddle them if we need to talk through something vocally or share our screen. I'll often send audio messaged through direct message as well. My company will also post important updates in group channels that are critical for me to see.

Slack is great for project-based work. You can organize channels and conversations around specific projects. You can use #s to keep discussions organized, and provide updates while certain users are still offline.

Slack is not the best suited for knowledge base management or heavy document management. It is often difficult to search for files that were once shared, and there are also size limits on files.

Our team uses Slack in tandem with Miro. Slack helps us track Miro notifications live, which is something that Miro is lacking in. We use the same email group for our team so everyone sees every comment in real time. This helps us immensely because our team is across continents.

Through Slack my organization is able to silo important discussions and reach solutions to both internal and customer-related questions. Slack easily integrates with Google which is important for sharing and housing documents. Slack also allows the team to communicate via video chat which is useful for quick huddles and large ideas that are tough to convey through messages.

Slack is great for businesses that have between 50-500 employees because it makes interoffice communication simple and keeps discussions focused and organized. You can quickly search for old messages with their search feature. The issue with Slack is that it can be a bit cluttered depending on all of the different channels you have open but those can easily be muted or removed from your view.

Our company has a high number of remote employees and Slack is the primary way we communicate via messages and huddles. I am a payroll manager and Slack makes it easy to reach out to employees for quick corrections or data that may be needed to move payroll forward. Employees can also reach out to me quickly for assistance with any questions they may have.
