Overall Satisfaction with ON24

ON24 is my teaching platform. ECommerce advertising, campaign development, copywriting and marketing are education platforms that I teach on the college/university level. In addition, I create webcasts for training and promotion of specific product and industry initiatives.

Pros

  • Provides Structure (which has been essential to learning in the virtual COVID world).
  • Quality of screen delivery (Superior to CHIME and ZOOM).
  • Back end analytics especially for audience tracking.

Cons

  • The ability to edit slide decks once they are loaded on the platform.
  • Video (using URLs) on the self service platform.
  • Better invitation conduit for sending registration invites.
  • It has differentiated my instruction on the college level during COVID. Everyone used ZOOM or CHIME. To my knowledge, I am the only ON24 webcast instructor in higher education.
  • Many of my students received career opportunities/first jobs due to the fact that their final presentations on ON24 were viewed by potential employers in all 50 states (not accomplished with in person presentations).
  • Students in five(5) foreign countries were able to take my classes, watch on demand lectures and complete graduation requirements.
The self service platform is limiting or too cumbersome to use on many features.
Structure that leads to control which is essential to teach college students.
It is wonderful for teaching/instruction. I have conducted over 200 classes over the past 14 months on the college level. The benefit here is what some may call it's weakness in that verbal interaction is absent. Questions and comments are relegated to the specific widgets. That is great! It forces people to think just what they want to ask for say.

It is less appropriate when you do need human interaction with the audience.

Configuring ON24

In the past month, there has been an erratic compatibility issue with Safari. Some times the PRODUCER button would say unavailable. At that point I had to log in on CHROME. Very awkward especially for last minute/before class log ons.
Some - we have done small customizations to the interface - Just background (what viewers see).
No - we have not done any custom code

Using ON24

It performed admirably for my needs. There were a number of inconsistencies such as background screen sizes and templates that were confusing
