Tableau [Online] is being used across a big part of our organization, especially on the revenue and marketing side. Tableau has been integrated with our data warehouse as well as a variety of other data sources. It allows us to visualize big and complex datasets in a way that makes the data easy to understand for all users. The power of Tableau is to have dashboards and charts that help users understand the story behind the numbers, even when they are less familiar with the original dataset.
Pros
Visualize complex information in an easy way
Allowing publishers/users to present data amongst multiple different dimensions
Having integrations with underlying datasets that allows for scheduled refreshes of the data
Cons
Reduce barrier of entry for new users i.e. make it more intuitive for new users to join Tableau as a publisher
Mobile version is not as easy to navigate at the online/desktop version
Ad-hoc reporting
Likelihood to Recommend
Tableau [Online] is very strong for solid, standardized reporting among a variety of different dimensions. It's easy to understand and navigate for regular users. There is also a wide variety of charts and visualizations to chose from which makes it relatively easy to tell the story beyond the numbers. Tableau [Online] is less suited for ad-hoc reporting.

We use Tableau for both internal company-proprietary and external customer-related visualization and interactive exploration of our key business metrics. Tableau helps us find the needles in the haystacks that we didn't even know we were looking for. Fantastic integrations with all of our 3rd party tooling, and seamless data ingestion means that no matter where the data originates, we can count on being able derive business intelligence from it quickly and easily.
Pros
Fine-grained permissions and user access tokens allow sensitive data to stay in the right place.
Scheduled reports save time by delivering data when we need it.
Online search makes it easy to find what you're looking for.
Cons
Mobile integration is not quite up-to-par with desktop in terms of performance.
Data filters can be clunky to use.
Sorting can be quirky when dealing with multiple character encodings.
Likelihood to Recommend
Pretty much the best option for performing data visualization on large data warehouses and data lakes. Infinitely scalable and integrations with many 3rd party tools. Creates visualizations that both technical and non-technical stakeholders can rally around. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to improve their business intelligence.

It's being used across a department mostly as a way to produce dashboards and weekly and monthly reports from our reagent data both internally and for some of our customers. It provides a clean way to both visualize data and key metrics from our data sources so that they can be accessed by any key stakeholders on the project. Data integration was also fairly straightforward which was also a plus for our department.
Pros
Data integration and importing is well supported
Great data visualization and dashboarding capabilities
Enterprise level security and can easily restrict/grant access across users and user groups
Cons
Takes time to train new associates and for new associates to become proficient using Tableau
UI can sometimes feel a little bit overcomplicated (e.g. editing dashboards)
Tableau Online can be slow/experience data refresh lags
Likelihood to Recommend
Overall I think Tableau Online does a good job for data visualization and dashboard creation for both internal and external use. We haven't had issues connecting to our data sources so this seems to be a good option if weekly/monthly reports or dashboards need to be made available to multiple stakeholders across departments. Probably better for cases where you already have infrastructural or organizational support for Tableau since ramping up might be time-consuming if the team is new to Tableau. Also probably only necessary if visualizations need to be shared across organizations or departments since for small teams, the desktop version would suffice especially at the beginning.

Tableau Online is integrated in our web analysis tool for analysis of incidents, defects within the organization. It provides excellent KPI graphics executive summary. It used across all organization. The data visualization and analysis is awesome. Customization of report is very easy for end user. It can also give the summary of data visualization of live data.
Pros
Multiple data source connections.
High performance.
Excellent visualization capabilities.
Easy to use.
Cons
High cost.
Security issues.
Integration issues.
Likelihood to Recommend
Tableau can handle large amounts of data very easily and efficiently. Different types of visualization can be created with a large amount of data without impacting the performance of the tool. Python and R can be used in Tableau for complex calculation. It can be easily implemented within a organization. Using Drag and Drop option you can create interactive visualization.

Tableau is being utilized as a platform to centralize Vivint's lead, sale and install data. Custom dashboards are built to display conversion rates and other call center metrics that are critical for key stakeholders to be aware of. We often leverage their automation-related features to send out daily e-mails with reports for specific marketing campaigns.
Pros
Their dashboards are easy to navigate and customize.
The drill-down capabilities are intuitive.
Their integrations with other mainstream solutions are quite good.
Cons
I'd love to see Tableau continue building out their knowledge base.
I wish Tableau didn't automatically refresh reports because it causes the default date range to be reinstated.
I'd like to see Tableau continue building out its integrations with other prominent third party solutions.
Likelihood to Recommend
Tableau has been effective at aggregating data from Vivint's tech stack and synthesizing it in a way that is easy to digest. The speed of their interface is impressive, and the degree of customization has been conducive to building insightful reports. I've been pleased with the overall product they offer.

Originally, my company purchased Tableau Desktop which I believe became Tableau Creator or something similar. This new version included Online as well as the old Desktop features. Our intention was to use Online to display non-sensitive dashboards with the clients. We moved away from Online to Datorama for easier sharing with the client.
Pros
Work distribution.
Browser editing capabilities.
Collaboration.
Cons
It can be slow.
Not ideal for sensitive data.
Initial set-up with Desktop not super intuitive.
Likelihood to Recommend
It's nearly as good as Desktop but really shines with its in-browser editing. The only downside is that there can be a noticeable slowdown within the browser depending on the task.

It is a software, amongst others, offered by some departments for data sharing, visualization and promoting collaborations.
Pros
Data visualization: a wide range of them available and pretty plots.
Drag and drop: no need for complex coding.
Real-time interaction with the data.
Cons
Pretty expensive
Inability for scripting could sometimes be a handicap
Likelihood to Recommend
It is great for visualizing standalone data and quickly generating and sharing very impressive plots, but other software would be better if some complex calculations are needed. Its high cost is also a drawback.

Currently, Tableau Online is being used by one department to help launch some new products we're developing. It will allow us to provide dynamic online visualizations - something up until now we never could do since we've always been a PowerPoint company. Jumping from PowerPoint to Tableau is a huge step - we've never had an online deliverable for clients before.
Pros
Dynamic visualizations: it may seem simple but having tooltips appear when a user hovers over a number is very nice.
Filter-able visualizations: in PowerPoint I have to produce ten slides for ten filters of data. In Tableau, I can do it once and allow the user to filter the chart himself.
Online and interactive: PowerPoint is static and not particularly pretty and is a file that gets emailed or passed around. Having the ability to send our clients a username and password so they can access their own results is a big plus.
Cons
I'd love to be able to control privacy and security a bit more in Tableau. We ended up using a SSO as a workaround.
This may be a product of our company's demands but moving a sheet around on a dashboard by adjusting the width and x/y addresses can be tedious.
I would love to be able to modify or customize the UI of tableau online. Not because it looks bad in any way, it would be nice to customize for clients (perhaps that is something that can be done that I have yet to be exposed to).
Likelihood to Recommend
We have been able to transfer most of our "classic" PowerPoint slides into Tableau and publish them. That said, the more customized the slide with more charts, tables, etc., the more complicated it becomes. Again, this may be more the fault of folks here who are set in their old ways -- but not everything that was once presented to clients in PowerPoint is easily recreated in tableau online.

Tableau is used in many different departments throughout my organization. It is used in every department from Sales and Engineering to Accounting and Production. Tableau is used to analyze trends in large amounts of data and reveal the patterns locked into the data. It also excels at building dashboards that are able to provide management and other users with dynamic easy to understand visuals.
Pros
Easy to use and set up
Scales well within a growing organization
Works well with mobile or cloud based platforms
Easy to customize access for a variety of users
Cons
Customizing a particular look can be challenging
Has a bit of a learning curve
Likelihood to Recommend
I have found that it is well suited for sending reports out to any level in the organization. Executive management used to receive many emails each day with a report, slides, and analysis. Now the majority of those updates and reports all flow through Tableau Online. They are able to get live data and digest and analyze it at their own pace. They are more prepared when they walk in to meetings and find it easier to explain trends with the Tableau Dashboards.
