Our team uses Slack in tandem with Miro. Slack helps us track Miro notifications live, which is something that Miro is lacking in. We use the same email group for our team so everyone sees every comment in real time. This helps us immensely because our team is across continents.

Slack works really well for quick communication between companies. We use this with our partners for live updates on projects. We use Slack in tandem with Miro, which is super helpful for the projects that we work on. It might work a little better if every team member used their own email for an account, that isn't how our team uses.

Slack allows my colleagues and I to discuss internally regarding a multitude of matters that our org faces day to day, but making sure it is neatly organized into channels.
Pros
Provides organized storage of communications
Allows our org to stay close to one another by offering channels where we can disconnect from work and talk about hobbies and life outside of work. This is extremely important as our role is a remote position.
Is able to integrate with many of our data pulls that can notify us when we need to take action on a customers account.
Cons
They could make the UI more user friendly by allowing you to organize channels even further
They could make the UI more aesthetically pleasing to the eyes.

I really don't have any complaints about Slack. It has allowed my team and I to really stay well connected and be able to discuss high level matters more seamlessly than an email would. I do think they could make the UI more aesthetically pleasing and improve their huddle capabilities, so when you share your screen, it easier to navigate.
Internal communication, communication with external partners, and automated notifications. Apart from standard communication, it allows to easily automate processes and provide alerting capabilities that can be acted upon by non-technical users. It also integrates well with external applications and services, including providing notifications (e.g. resource access requested) and basic management (e.g. grant access to requested document) capabilities.

Cons

Slack is much more pleasant to use than corporate communication tools (e.g. MS Teams) and in my experience facilitates online communication better than the mentioned alternatives. Multitude of integrations with popular applications and services (e.g. Miro) can easily make it a one-stop-shop for your day-to-day activities within your company.
I've been using Slack for four years and have been using it at my present company (SAYN) for over a year. Slack is an important communication tool in my organization. We use it to streamline daily operations. Slack helps us manage a variety of business concerns, including lowering dependency on email for internal communication and promoting seamless collaboration among distant or hybrid teams.
The integration of third-party technologies such as Google Drive improves our workflow by consolidating all relevant resources in one location. Most Importantly, Slack’s search functionality helps us to find old conversations and files quickly. Overall I am happy using Slack.
Pros
Slack's instant messaging enables our team to communicate in real time, accelerating decision-making and problem-solving.
When we have tight deadlines, rapid approvals may be requested in seconds with the help of dedicated project channel.
Slack’s channel system helps organize conversations by topics, teams, or projects. This makes it easy to focus on relevant discussions.
We have separate channels for our marketing, operations, finance, business development & warehouse team.
Slack enables quick file sharing directly in conversations or channels.
When launching a new marketing campaign, our team shares assets like photos and videos directly in the marketing channel.
Cons
Undoubtedly Slack’s search function is powerful but sometimes it is difficult to find specific messages or files in very active channels with high message volumes. This needs an improvement.
I have experienced notification issues on my phone. I am not receiving notifications and have missed important updates as a result. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, but the problem still persists.
The Business Plus plan does not include support for data loss prevention or offline backup providers.

When there's an escalation that needs to be addressed immediately Slack provided the ideal platform by allowing quick contact and therefore assists una quick resolution as well.
If the topic is a sensitive one, communication might be too sensitive to be living in Slack backend.
Also huddles are a good quick way to engage in live communication

I think Slack would be a perfect fit for business related purposes, but if I would use Slack for daily usage regarding about my personal use like social life I think Slack is more inclined to professional use so what I can tell about Slack is that it has all the components of what a typical social media platform is but in professional manner.

Slack is primarily used as a communication tool, either by DM with other coworkers, to group channels, or in conjunction with automation to third party programs. This is particularly useful for customer service/experience teams and touts Google Workspace integrations, Cloverleaf, Zapier, and customer platforms like Zendesk, Customer etc.
Pros
User administration
Team communication
Integrations
Cons
More readily accessible administrative options
Pricing

Slack has been very well suited for a range of companies that I've utilized services through. This ranged from startups with ~50 staff, to larger corporations with 400+ staff. It is easy to use from a corporate staff perspective, retail staff, and as an administrator for staff/teams. I think it might not make sense as a service for teams of 20 or less, though have not tried the use case myself (my decision would boil down to use-case and pricing). If a company has a range of services they're looking to integrate and Slack offers plugins, I would recommend exploring.

As we are a global company, we use it to collaborate across many time zones when we aren't able to actually meet. It is most useful when we need to communicate with APAC, Europe and the America's at the same time as usually one of us will be offline at least. As we mostly work from home these days, it is also essential for just day to day communication when a Zoom meeting isn't really needed.
Pros
Private groups specific to a task or sub-set of people.
Integrates with other apps like Google calendars etc.
Understands that people aren't available all the time and has tools that help people stay offline when they mean to be offline.
Cons
The requirement to sign back in periodically always happens at a very inconvenient time.
Threads can be difficult to follow as notifications could be better about new replies to certain thread.

I haven't come across a professional instant messaging service that works as well as Slack. It plugs in to a lot of other work based applications seamlessly like Google Calendars and Zoom. It is a great place to collaborate across the globe as it is sensitive to peoples work/life balance with things like a "do not disturb" mode, the ability to set working hours and schedule message sending.
