Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I've been using Slack for four years and have been using it at my present company (SAYN) for over a year. Slack is an important communication tool in my organization. We use it to streamline daily operations. Slack helps us manage a variety of business concerns, including lowering dependency on email for internal communication and promoting seamless collaboration among distant or hybrid teams.

The integration of third-party technologies such as Google Drive improves our workflow by consolidating all relevant resources in one location. Most Importantly, Slack’s search functionality helps us to find old conversations and files quickly. Overall I am happy using Slack.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Slack's instant messaging enables our team to communicate in real time, accelerating decision-making and problem-solving.
When we have tight deadlines, rapid approvals may be requested in seconds with the help of dedicated project channel.
Slack’s channel system helps organize conversations by topics, teams, or projects. This makes it easy to focus on relevant discussions.
We have separate channels for our marketing, operations, finance, business development & warehouse team.
Slack enables quick file sharing directly in conversations or channels.
When launching a new marketing campaign, our team shares assets like photos and videos directly in the marketing channel.

Cons

Undoubtedly Slack’s search function is powerful but sometimes it is difficult to find specific messages or files in very active channels with high message volumes. This needs an improvement.
I have experienced notification issues on my phone. I am not receiving notifications and have missed important updates as a result. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, but the problem still persists.
The Business Plus plan does not include support for data loss prevention or offline backup providers.

Return on Investment

Slack has significantly improved communication within the organization by providing a platform for quick and instant messaging.
Teams can easily collaborate on different projects with Slack’s channels.
We have to use Google Drive to send large videos. Would have been good if it could be spent through Slack.

Usability

I would like to rate Slack's overall usability as 8 because of its exceptional integration capabilities and real-time communication features. Would give it 10 out of 10 if we could send large files.

Alternatives Considered

Discord

Discord is basically designed for gaming communities, while Slack is for professional and workplace communication. Also Slack is known for its integrations with third-party tools where Discord actually does not.

We have to use Google Drive for sharing large videos, as Slack has limitations when it comes to managing large files.
