What is Adobe Commerce?

Adobe Commerce delivers personalized shopping at scale. Delivered as Adobe Commerce as a Cloud Service (ACCS), it boosts conversion with an AI-powered storefront, built-in merchandising, and GenAI-driven content. ACCS supports rapid expansion through multi-site, multi-language, and multi-brand capabilities, handling millions of SKUs, complex catalogs, and custom pricing. Always-on SaaS innovation lowers total cost of ownership by removing upgrade overhead and minimizing maintenance.

For brands that want the same performance, personalization, and merchandising benefits without replacing their existing commerce backend, Adobe Commerce Optimizer (ACO) provides a flexible alternative. Powered by Edge Delivery Services, it enables faster conversion, scalability, and personalization—without the need to replatform.

Both solutions integrate natively with Adobe Experience Cloud tools like Adobe Target, Adobe Journey Optimizer, and Adobe Real-Time CDP, enabling real-time data activation, personalized marketing, and connected customer journeys.

Adobe Commerce has been great for our small company

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Adobe Commerce as our primary platform to run and manage our website. We needed a cloud based platform for a small business team making it easy to make updates and provide a good experience for our customers. We are primarily a B2C however we do take advantage of the B2B functions available with Adobe Commerce as well.

Pros

  • The ease of use with page builder requiring no developer skills to maintain most of our pages.
  • The catalog is straightforward and easy to use and having the ability to update pricing and other key pieces based on customer group is very helpful.
  • Many of the extensions Adobe Commerce has help us to do what we need to do more quickly without a great deal of development efforts and cost.

Cons

  • Although Page builder is great to have and allows us to do a lot of things without developer support it lacks some key accessibility aspects and causes a lot of work to clean it up on the out of box blocks etc.
  • I don't want to have to upgrade or choose new Saas to have fast performing platform. It's disappointing that our site speed is so much slower than our competitors. Wish there was something more that could be done for those of us just on Magento Adobe Commerce Platform.
  • I don't like that there are so many patches and upgrades to the platform costing our company budget dollars that could be spent on higher priorities.

Return on Investment

  • When we first went LIVE with Adobe Commerce our SEO / Organic traffic plummeted and so did our conversion so our initial take of Adobe Commerce wasn't great. This was partly to do with business decisions but also to do with out of box functionality not being as expected.
  • Fast forward and we basically did a redesign on the platform and partnered with a fantastic SEO partner and improved results and now are doing extremely well on the Magento platform. Much improved!

Magento Commerce Delivers But With Pitfalls

Pros

  • Simple to understand UI for easy front end user interface.
  • Upgraded back end managing customers and orders
  • Integrated shipping API's
  • More or less simplistic training for the sales staff to manage day-to-day

Cons

  • Specialized integrations are still lacking.
  • Specific customization to a company's needs still needs vast improvement.
  • Upgrading customizations as the core updates is a pain.

Return on Investment

  • Initially helped us get off the ground with selling consistently without headaches.
  • Over time we started to outgrow the system with our company-specific customizations.
  • Eventually we learned it became too difficult to maintain the platform's customizations with core updates.
