Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We currently use 1Password to store internal logins and banking information with our remote team. We also store client passwords and use the platform to share login information with contractors.

Pros

  • Easy to save logins directly on the website
  • Chrome extension works well to autofill passwords
  • Easy to set permissions

Cons

  • Interface is a bit outdated
  • With autofill occasionally the site will reject the password several times before it works
  • A separate area for banking information where you can store a picture of cards

Return on Investment

  • Easier to share client information safely with the remote team means work can be done efficiently
  • Professional to clients so they know their information is safe - better client retention

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Our company uses 1Password to store individual user passwords as well as team shared passwords. The tool makes it incredibly easy to set up joint accounts for shared logins as well as one-time use security codes for authenticated logins. When a new employee comes on board, it's super quick to give them access to all the tools they need with the folders and sharing permissions options as well.

  • The auto login option sometimes displays a pop up if you are using your Google account that doesn't easily swipe away or can be closed.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Our company has multiple facilities that all have similar and different devices. Each facility doesn't need access to the other's passwords. With 1Password I can create seperate vaults and allow the corperate team access to all vaults, while each facility is restricted to their vault. We use this to manage passwords, server creds, wifi creds and software product keys. It also has a share option where we can temporarily share a password with someone.

Pros

  • 1Password does a phenomenal job of keeping track of all your passwords!
  • 1Password allows you to auto generate passwords with varying complexity. Since you don't have to remember these passwords, you can use 1Password's password generator to create extremely complex passwords.

Cons

  • 1Password's overall interface can be a bit overwhelming at first - with a plethora of options and categories to choose from.
  • Getting used to allowing 1Password to manage all your passwords - to the point you don't have to remember them, or even know what they are - takes a fair amount of getting used to.

Return on Investment

  • It is difficult to put a value on peace of mind, but 1Password provides significant peace of mind in not having to remember all of your passwords.
  • It is also difficult to put a value on security, but utilizing 1Password's password generator, you are able to create complex and secure passwords to help protect your information from nefarious entities.
