Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Data Platform
We use Veeam Data Platform for our backup for our Azure environment. It gives us peace of mind knowing that we have a secure lock on our data especially as we move away from on-premise servers and store information on Azure. It was a little time consuming at first to do a backup for one storage account, and then replicate it for another storage backup by having to do the script ourselves, but Veeam Data Platform was able to help us do that by saving time.
Pros
- Keeps our information on Azure secure.
- Helps replicate scripts to multiple storage accounts.
- Has responsive account managers and teams that are able to tailor to our needs.
Cons
- Initially we had to write multiple scripts to do simple backups on multiple storage accounts.
- Our licenses weren't working fully on Day 1. There were some technical issues to get the licenses fully active.
- The ticketing system is generally good, but if you need immediate escalation, it doesn't seem to have high alerts.
- We work in healthcare; so the accessibility of archived data can be priceless should Azure ever go down.
- If $10K were the average cost for 10 user licenses and each license carried $10K worth of information that could be useful information in the hospital, the an ROI of $1000 per license is easily formidable.
- If Azure went down and we didn't have our coding or stored information for our business, that create tens of thousands of lost revenue per day. Hence, a $10K annual license for ten users - rounded up to $12K per year would equate to $1K per month. If we could not access any information for 1 day if Azure went down, we could easily be losing $10K per day. a 10x ROI is very believable.
We utilize both Cisco (networking environment) and Barracuda (email security) for our organization. While they are great for the purposes we have them for, they could not provide the same level of cloud backup that Veeam Data Platform provides for Azure at the comparable cost and comparable flexibility needed for day-to-day operations.
