Cisco Meraki Dashboard makes network management simple

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We manage the networks for about 20 clients across the city and have found the scalability and reliability of Cisco Meraki Dashboard to be crucial to our business model. We are able to proactively manage network issues before they arise through the reporting dashboard (with recommendations so granular as to RF settings for a particular building to avoid collisions). Our ticketing system receives alerts when any devices go offline and we are able to respond much quicker to outages, sometimes without needing to go on-site.

Pros

  • DHCP and VLAN scoping is simple and easy to identify problems
  • Consistent firmware updates are pushed to client devices which we can schedule for off hours
  • The user interface is intuitive and easily highlights problem areas
  • Content filtering has been a big bonus to offer our clients, especially within schools

Cons

  • Some features are unavailable when the network doesn't have a switch (network topology, for example)
  • I wish there was an overview for all organizations with pending firmware updates, rather than going through one-by-one.
  • I would like to have some of the switch tools available for firewall devices (port cycling, line testing).

Return on Investment

  • Cisco Meraki Dashboard does 90% of the work for us - we spend very little time on network management after initial setup
  • The licensing is clear for our customers and many of the non-profit entities are eligible for donated items/licensing through TechSoup
  • If a device fails, the RMA process is fast and usually we have a replacement device the next day

Cisco Meraki Dashboard Review

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

It's like a one single paned glass for all of my systems. It manages our switches, our access points, pretty much. Those are only ones we have. We had some mx, which is the firewall, the securities, but we only have it in one location. So actually, basically the dashboard just allows us to manage all those devices in one's place.

Pros

  • I think it's the ease of managing the devices comes through the dashboard. You can view them all and if you have any troubles, they have access to different troubleshooting tools. I think that's the part I like the best because with the troubleshooting tools, you troubleshoot the switch that's five buildings away, just from that one location.

Cons

  • They're always improving the dashboard. Every time I look, there's a new application they've added to the dashboard to give you better features. So I can't think of anything where they need to improve because they find it before the users find it.

Return on Investment

  • I like how it's easy to use. The negative part of it would probably be because it's so easy. I don't continue using command line interfaces, so I kind of forget how to use some of those commands if I had to go to and physically touch a switch again.

Cisco Meraki Dashboard Review

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I have one case I installed and implemented before I went to there on a client. I prepared the Meraki, MEX, the file, Mera, MES, and I needed to configuration and connected on the dashboard. And there I needed to implement the defense of the network of the clients and connect to the SD one and a lot of VPNs from De Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Australia, LZ together with OWS.

Pros

  • So I have an example was you connected when you open the page on the Mira dashboard, you can turn a login and then you open on the front, the dashboard. Out there you can see a lot of the options. And the one day options important is a network organization and wide. This wide you can see your product and the front, your product and there you can see your consumer link and you can do a troubleshooting, you can implement news FIEs.

Cons

  • So this areas I started in the company oil, gas in the industry and together with iot, Meraki is very good with the products. Iot, I don't have the fixed the problem with Meraki just and that okay, resolve it.

Return on Investment

  • So the impact is very positive because the Meraki is easy to configuration the Meraki dashboard, disease to configuration and its facility to implement these first to the client and you do not spend a lot of time to configure in Meraki dashboard.
