Overall Satisfaction with BigCommerce
Bigcommerce is our ecommerce platform. It is the only ecommerce platform that we use for Carsons. The business problems it solves are fairly self-explanatory. It provides us a platform to sell goods online to our customers.
Pros
- The API is fairly solid and reliable
- It is fairly easy to get implemented
- Our BigCommerce solutions team, including Chris Hall, is outstanding
Cons
- The API documentation is often hard to follow
- Stencil relies too heavily on jquery, which is baroque
- There needs to be a server-to-server API / proxy like there is for Shopify
- It allowed us to build several integrations with our vendors very quickly
- It negatively impacted our front-end developer productivity because of the reliance on jquery, handlebars as a templating language, and the lack of customizable filters.
- We were able to implement in fairly record time
* API is much better.
* Slightly harder to implement a simple site
* Can scale much more easily to product catalogs > 100,000 products
* Better control over SEO for platform migrations
