Organizations leverage it to address data loss and ensure business continuity, with reviewers consistently highlighting its ease of use and reliability in core backup and recovery functions. In TrustRadius reviews, users widely adopt application-centric recovery, immutable storage, and instant recovery capabilities.

Reviewers also appreciate the platform's cloud capabilities for offsite backup storage and disaster recovery, contributing to faster recovery times and ransomware protection. However, a significant portion of reviewers (78%) note challenges with reporting capabilities, citing a need for more detailed failure logs and simpler compliance reporting. Veeam Data Platform

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Veeam Data Platform to protect all of our major servers. Currently we have M365 on a hybrid configuration with Exchange, and Veeam Data Platform saved us when my Exchange server crashed. We also use Veeam Data Platform to back up our main SQL databases and application servers. Again Veeam Data Platform saved us when a developer made a mistake on our most important SQL server and I was able to replace the table that had been corrupted.

Pros

  • Backups are very easy to setup
  • Restoring is as simple as it can be
  • Setting up the backups is also very simple
  • Setting your own retention policies

Cons

  • To be honest apart from some initial hiccups
  • I can not see any room for improvement for Veeam Data Platform
  • It is the best backup and recovery software I have used in my 35 years of working in IT

Likelihood to Recommend

As I said previously Veeam Data Platform is very simple to setup, including retention policies etc. It runs very smoothly, only issues I ever had with Veeam Data Platform was when my NAS device was updated I had to go into Veeam Data Platform to fix it until I found the permanent solution for this. Since then it has run perfectly

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

This solution is primarily utilized to create secure backups of our various system-critical Hyper-V virtual machines, ensuring that all essential data, configurations, and system states are preserved. This backup process is crucial for safeguarding against potential data loss, system failures, or any unforeseen disruptions that could impact the functionality and availability of our virtualized infrastructure.

Pros

  • Easy to use
  • Integrates well with other vendors

Cons

  • More indepth error reporting
  • Issues that do arrise can be more easily solvable within software.

Likelihood to Recommend

Has been reliable in situations where a backup was needed.

Veeam - The Comprehensive Data Protection Platform

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use it for daily, weekly, monthly backups of all our windows and linux based servers in our Veeam architecture. We also use it for Two different sites and replication is happening amongst them. We also have disaster recovery created on site level. All of our backups are actively monitored for malware and virus protection which is provided by Veeam.

Pros

  • Taking Incremental backups
  • Instant VM Recovery in case needed
  • Data Replication across multiple sites & cloud are pretty good.

Cons

  • Taking backups on aws, as it only takes EC2 but we need something which can take full backup eg.lamba, Routes and all.
  • Cost as it can be quite expensive for small to medium business.
  • Proper integration with HyperV as supposed to Vmware

Likelihood to Recommend

If anyone has VMware infrastructure, then I would recommend Veeam backup quite easily. But if someone has their majority or full infrastructure on AWS or Hyper V then this solution is not recommended at all. Based on my small testing environment for HyperV all of the checkpoints were failing for Veeam which was pretty hectic to fix.

Veeam Data Platform is great if you don't need a fully managed solution

Rating: 7 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Veeam Data Platform to backup a number of on-premise devices, including VMWare VM's and physical hosts. We leverage storage we provide both on premise and in the cloud to ensure all mission critical data is backed up reliably and recoverable quickly. In today's IT world, ransomware is a when, not an if anymore, so having current backups you can trust is crucial.

Pros

  • Replication to multiple cloud storage providers
  • Easy to setup new backups
  • Instant recovery to VMWare is super fast

Cons

  • You still have to provide your own storage for on prem and cloud backups
  • No ability to have automated spin up and verification of backups
  • Not enough backup frequency options

Likelihood to Recommend

It's well suited for companies that have primarily on premise workloads that either already have extra storage to use, or don't mind providing and managing their own backup storage. It's also lower cost since they're not providing storage or management of the backups.

For companies that want more automated testing of backups, things like spinning up backups of servers daily to verify functionality, it's not great, and I'd look at competitors first. In addition, if you want a fully managed backup solution that includes storage and management, this isn't really the product for you.

Veeam Data Platform Is A Life Saver

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are using the Veeam Data Platform to provide both bare metal and data backups for all of our mission critical servers. The business problems that are addressed for us is disaster recovery for our servers. Due to the nature of the industry we work in and provide services for, we cannot afford any lengthy amount of downtime rebuilding criticial infrastructure servers should anything happen to them. With the Veeam Data Platform, we are able to quickly restore servers as needed without overly long outages.

Pros

  • Intuitive UI that's easy to follow
  • Efficient backup/restore features
  • Notifications of job success/failure

Cons

  • I'm overall satisfied with the product, can't think of any improvements.

Likelihood to Recommend

We have had servers in the past where they would go down without notice and was lost. Thanks to the restore functionality of Veeam, we were able to get it back in a timely manner and did not affect overall business. This also applied as a test of the platform to verify that it was capable of doing what we needed it to do.

Top rate backup solution.

A time-saving backup solution

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are using both Veeam Backup & Replication and Veeam Office 365 Backup. It is backing up most of our cloud data and local data.

Pros

  • Easy set-up and management - We are a small IT team and don't have the time for a time-consuming solution and Veeam covers that for us.
  • Easy to understand reports, lets you know fast what needs to be done.

Cons

  • Working more towards cloud solutions, but version 10 is a big step in that direction.

Likelihood to Recommend

As a medium-sized business our needs are more than satisfied. Backing up data, either locally or directly to the cloud (AWZ/Azure) is simple to set up and manage. We see it as a tool that we can scale up our company together with.
