What is UVexplorer?

UVnetworks' focus is to provide simple software solutions that help IT administrators identify, track, and troubleshoot their IT infrastructure. Most importantly; Network Topology & Router/Switch/Firewall Configuration Script Backup (+Change Notifications).

UVexplorer
UVexplorer provides Layer 2 network mapping.

UVexplorer automatically discovers information about the devices on a network and the connections between them. It can be used to monitor the status of critical devices and services, and users can receive notifications when problems arise, tracking the network's performance using UVexplorer's Ping monitors, CPU monitors, Disk monitors, and Web Site monitors.

UVexplorer also archives and compares firewall/router/switch configurations and notifies users when changes have been made.

UVexplorer Features:

  • UVexplorer provides a low cost network documentation option for MSPs that need Layer 2 mapping and switch/router/firewall configuration backup.
  • The UVexplorer development team first built network tools for Visio, Altiris and WhatsUp.
  • UVexplorer helps IT administrators identify, track, and troubleshoot their IT infrastructure.
  • UVexplorer provides discovery of network devices and the connections between them.
  • UVexplorer captures detailed device inventory data, and automatically generates detailed network maps that visualize a network's structure and connectivity right down to the port level, including WIRELESS AND VIRTUAL INFRASTRUCTURE.
  • UVexplorer can export network maps and device information with direct integrations into PRTG, Lucidchart, and can export in the Visio, PDF, and SVG formats.
  • UVexplorer integrates with Paessler's PRTG Network Monitor solution to combine its advanced discovery, inventory, and mapping features with PRTG's network monitoring capabilities.
  • UVexplorer provides switch, router and firewall configuration backup which can be scheduled daily, hourly or monthly. Save all of the switch, router and firewall configuration changes and review them at any time.
  • UVexplorer notifies by email when there has been a change to any switch, router or firewall’s configuration. These alerts warn users of any impending network issues.
  • UVexplorer provides a comparison of saved configurations. This allows the user to revert back to an old configuration quickly, if necessary.

UVexplorer Server
UVexplorer Server is the web ui for UVexplorer and provides all of the functionality of UVexplorer. Users can provide access to individual silo'ed networks in UVexplorer Server and is a tool for Managed Service Provider's and very large networks. This means there is one location to view all of the client’s data and they can access the web UI to view their maps. Clients can also provide internal access to the data to administrators, technicians and others.

UVexplorer Server Features:

  • UVexplorer Server is the Web Client for UVexplorer PRO and is loved by MSPs.
  • UVexplorer Server provides silo’ed network maps for MSPs, with role-based access control to client’s techs/administrators.

If clients are building hand-made network maps, introduce them to UVexplorer. UVexplorer is free up to 500 Network Interfaces. The vendor states that this usually means it is free if clients have typically less than ~85 employees.
