The main problem TriNet addressed for us was our desire to continue offering generous health insurance benefits while keeping costs more manageable. It also helps free up the HR contact person from many time consuming tasks
Pros
accurate and timely payroll processing
responsiveness to questions and issues
year end and year start
open enrollment
Cons
time and attendance - lack of visibility in timesheet of approved time off
unclear or lack of communication regarding available features (eg TriNet customer resource web page)
would appreciate more or better resources for using reports and analytics
Likelihood to Recommend
well suited for businesses who do not have or want a high level HR position.

We use the Payroll PEO services for two separate entities. TriNet's PEO platform allowed our companies to save approximately 36% on health insurance costs, which we are then able to reinvest into our employees. We will also be rolling our 401K to TriNet in 2024. TriNet serves as our direct HR department
Pros
Timely customer service
Employee compliance support
Great saving on health insurance costs
Cons
Increase the flexibility of analytic reports
Provide better pet insurance options
Provide gym membership discounts
Likelihood to Recommend
TriNet's overall PEO status helps the small and mid-size companies to provide blue ribbon HR services for payroll, health insurance and retirement savings
We use TriNet as our Payroll and Benefits provider.
Pros
Excellent Benefits Selection
Webinars are structured and stay within time allocated
Excellent Customer Support
Cons
Easier access of online training materials
More detailed training on mapping for G/L (those not currently using the online version of QB)

The only drawback is that TriNet does not cover Construction. If we expand into General Contracting, that business unit will be under a separate payroll system.
TriNet is the PEO we employ. We are a relatively small company with less than 15 employees. Before using TriNet, we outsourced our HR needs to almost five different companies between payroll, employee legal questions, benefits, workers comp insurance, 401k, etc. It has been nice to have all of our HR needs met by one company. It has also allowed our employees greater opportunities with better benefits than we could have provided as a small company.
Pros
The app is user-friendly.
They provided multiple trainings during Covid which was incredibly helpful when everyone was trying to figure out PPP.
Their communication and response have gotten much faster.
Cons
The build a report feature is still limited and doesn't provide as many options as I'd like.
Their chat feature is good, but sometimes it takes so long to get to an actual person and past all the automatic robot questions.
Likelihood to Recommend
I would say TriNet is well suited for smaller companies who want to outsource all of their HR needs under one umbrella and provide their employees with greater benefit options than they would have otherwise. If a company were large enough to have an HR representative, then I don't think it would make sense to also pay for TriNet's services. I'm in the Admin field, but I'm not an HR expert and TriNet has been incredibly patient with all my questions. They've always given me the information I needed to succeed.
We are a small company who utilizes TriNet for the purchasing power on benefits package. We run payroll and all benefits through TriNet.
Pros
Benefit choice.
Quick response time when/if issues arise.
Reporting.
Ease of use.
Cons
I would like if there was an option for payroll entry in the mobile app.
While reporting is good, I would like if it was easier to customize some of my own reports/information.
Likelihood to Recommend
Large pool/choice of benefits for my employees, ease of use on the website and mobile app, and having a dedicated rep to go to with any questions/needs who is always responsive.
TriNet is used across the whole organization primarily for payroll and benefits. Being part of this PEO allows us to access better health insurance rates than we were able to obtain with a broker as a small business.
Pros
Offers a wide array of choices of benefits at extremely competitive rates.
Provides reporting that is customizable and useful across the organization for human resources, accounting and C-suite decision making.
Cons
Changes that affect payroll have to be submitted in a different screen 3 days before payroll submission (such as pay rates and tax withholding).
Some service reps have to be reminded to answer requests rather than staying on top of things.
Would like to see more topics covered in the online training resources for employees.
Likelihood to Recommend
TriNet is an asset to small businesses who would like to offer their employees the type of benefits and technology that are available at larger firms. It also gives a smaller company access to the full spectrum of human resources knowledge and services when there is not a dedicated and well-trained HR department available in their organization.

We are currently using TriNet company-wide for payroll, benefits and vacation tracking. The biggest problem it addresses is the fact that we do not have an internal HR department. Our partners at TriNet have been very helpful in keeping us up to date on new developments and also areas that we were not aware of prior to implementing TriNet.
Pros
Lets you respond quickly to emails.
Keep in touch until an inquiry is resolved.
Reach out periodically to ask if we have questions/concerns.
Cons
Implementing our new PTO policy took around three months, as there were some miscommunications.
Likelihood to Recommend
TriNet is less appropriate for very small companies, as it can be quite expensive if you do not need some of the services provided.

TriNet is used across the organization in the USA. We use TriNet for payroll processing and to administer benefits.
Pros
Quick response turnaround time from our payroll and benefits representatives
Visually easy and intuitive to process payroll using the payroll grid
Short wait time for TriNet customer support hotline
Cons
TriNet needs to upgrade its software. Their system cannot pick up on retro payment for new hires who start after the last pay run has closed. I have to manually email our payroll rep to include this every single time this happens.
There isn't a pre-onboarding process built out for employees to enter in their profile information before their hire date. A lot of other PEOs have this feature.
Their reporting tool is not intuitive and outdated. You can only use their standard reports because their report tool is so hard to use.
Likelihood to Recommend
TriNet is well suited for small companies (1-250 employees) because they can provide basic needs such as payroll and benefits. They may not be the best option for bigger companies because they are missing features that are "nice to have" such as trainings and pre-onboarding tools.
