Who Buys & Uses QAD Adaptive ERP

One of the best ERP systems

Pros

  • Inventory management
  • Supplier management
  • Data dump for analytics
  • Customization of your data collection

Cons

  • Could be faster when filtering large data sets
  • Need a way of automating analytics. I used to save a query search to do my daily data dump and analyze in Excel. It would be nice if this could be easily automated.

Return on Investment

  • QAD has made it easier for the operations engineering team to narrow down processes where reject rate relates to the highest cost so that they can solve those issues first.
  • QAD has made it easy for the production team to print work orders and track daily builds. This saves a lot of time from the old method of tracking in Word docs or Excel.
  • Sometimes QAD needs a lot of maintenance on the back end so we had to hire a full time employee to manage the data systems.

QAD

Pros

  • Highly Scalable
  • They have other products that integrate with QAD
  • It can integrate with other third party applications
  • Frontend and Backend is very user friendly

Cons

  • As a user and who managed the application, I have longed for a module that you don't have to go thru the entire frame to go to a certain field. They have addressed this issue on their recent release by going to a web frame.

Return on Investment

  • Maintenance and Licensing. Even though the licensing is per user based, cost is very low, compared to other ERP systems.

QAD-Y!

Pros

  • The QAD Enterprise application is great, we only started using this application a few years ago. The Master Scheduling Workbench has been a great improvement to our daily operations.
  • The Web-based QAD Supplier Portal has also been implemented recently in our company and has been a huge help to our purchasing and materials department.
  • The QAD support that we receive has helped our company grow and is a major asset in upcoming projects.

Cons

  • QAD web-based supplier portal, there is an option to flag emails to the suppliers, however when the system is updated every 2 hours these emails regenerate and are sent to the suppliers again. At this time we have not been told of any fixes for this issue.

Return on Investment

  • Better customer service
  • Increased production efficiency
  • Better inventory control

QAD ERP review

Pros

  • EDI is the standard for Automotive; its really easy to setup and follow up on day by day
  • The support of regulatory changes (for example new electronic accounting in Mexico). They are developing a full module to cover this new requirement in an easy way for an international company that need to follow up with this Maquila Accounting reports (easy 2 weeks setup)
  • MRP is the heart of QAD, It simplifies the planning base on BOMs, formulas or Safety Stock and works great to plan WIP, RAW and MROs
  • It's flexible, you could have relatively cheap customizations to make it work 100% as need it.
  • The knowledge base is a great tool to resolve small issues during day to day work.

Cons

  • The support could be handled better. Sometimes the QAD support team needs a lot of time to resolve issues.
  • The browsers (Netui) are a great help, but they consume a lot of memory resources; they need to improve the performance for complex browsers (normally the one s developed by customers)
  • The configurable screens are a great idea to simplify the daily work, but they do not support all the screens. The worst part is that you could create the simplified screen but when it starts working strangely, the answer from the QAD support team is that the screen is not supported.

Return on Investment

  • It help us to reduce the inventories (FG and RAW)
  • It reduce the time to adjust to the constantly changing international customs laws

QAD at a glance

Pros

  • Easy to manage/configure
  • Reliable
  • Offers good transaction traceability
  • Has a good compliance model
  • Interfaces well with other apps

Cons

  • Needs more flexibility to add/configure new indexes (if using the Progress Database) as the current indexes on key tables like transaction history are not helpful
  • Need a better support system for the TMS/Precision interface
  • Need better KnowledgeBase articles to understand the innerds of Pricing functionality

Return on Investment

  • Improved Employee Efficiency
  • Better Customer Service
  • Better Financial reportings for a quick Month-End/Year-End close
