What is Phone.com?
Phone.com is presented as a work-from-anywhere solution for businesses, a VoIP business phone system available with a business phone number, auto-attendant, hold music, text / SMS, as well as more advanced features.
Beyond calling, Phone.com enables call screening, call waiting and transfer, and business level features like CRM integration, IVR, and call queues. For light call center functionality, Phone.com’s Call Queues allow users to route incoming calls to a specific group of phone numbers or members. Queue members are rung in order from first to last, and if a member is already on a call, the next number on the list is rung. While callers are waiting to be connected, Phone.com will play the selected Hold Music.
Phone.com also supports browser-based web conferencing, online meetings with no downloads required. Its basic plan supports meetings of up to 10 participants, while Pro Users can invite up to a 100 attendees, and gain advanced features like streaming, and Meeting Lock, as well as collaboration features, like an in-app whiteboard.
The service can also include optional Premium Features, available for an added cost. For higher call volumes or extended hours support, Phone.com offers US-based professional LIve Receptionist service to block spam, set appointments, or to simply add a personal touch for when the user can’t personally answer a call. Additionally, users can add call recording for $7.99 per month.
Phone.com includes a mobile app that enables users to make calls anywhere using 3G/4G data or a Wi-Fi connection, and optionally, they are a reseller of Poly and Yealink IP phones to accompany the service.
To support medical practitioners or those with similar privacy and compliance needs, Phone.com boasts HIPAA features, such as Automated Text Responder (i.e. to notify patients that they should contact the office in a different way to discuss medical information). Phone.com’s video meeting service is secured using triple DES encryption, and voice records (e.g. voicemails) are encrypted as well. Phone.com’s APIs enable users to integrate the service into their other platforms, including CRMs, billing, marketing, support functions and other applications.
Founded in 2008, Phone.com is headquartered in New York, and boasts over 30,000 customers around the world.
