I use Grammarly to suggest spelling check and give me more vocabulary options. I use it in writing emails or even rewrite the sentence for me in some cases. The tool helps maintain a consistent tone, especially in client-facing communication, ensuring messages are polite, confident, and aligned with the organization's standards.

Pros

  • spell check
  • alternate words and vocabulary
  • professional sentences

Cons

  • rewrite the whole paragraph

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Grammarly on a weekly basis to create content for websites, social media, advertising and other business-related content. The various settings help adjust my goals for the type of content I'm creating and the tools and plagiarism checker helps ensure what I write is perfect for potential customers. The tools built into Grammarly make it so I don't have to worry about my grammar or spelling and can easily free flow ideas and come back later to easily fix any issues.

Pros

  • Ease of use - Grammarly is super easy to use. Anyone can use the app whether in a text editor like Microsoft Word or on the Grammarly website.
  • Integration - This one is a game-changer. It integrates with the main programs I use on a regular basis including email, Microsoft Office, Firefox, desktop, phone and iPads. I didn't need to change to anything or use something different so it was an ideal match.
  • Goals - This is a really cool function of Grammarly. With Goals, you can choose your audience, formality and domain type. So it works for a wide range of users. Depending on the audience type, Grammarly automatically can suggest changes to your content to help ensure your goals are being met.

Cons

  • Memory - I have a lot of programs I need open on my computer and multiple tabs in my web browser. I need them all to do my work. I have noticed a slow-down of apps opening or it taking longer to open a browser window when Grammarly is activated.
  • Business Plan - I would love to use their new style guide feature, however, it would more than triple my monthly cost because they offer it at 3 users per month. I am self-employed and with the multitude of programs I already pay for on a regular basis, it doesn't quite fit in my budget to upgrade. I'd love to see a solopreneur plan.
  • More Integration - It does integrate in a lot of ways already but instead of having to copy and paste from Grammarly into the apps it doesn't integrate with, it would be nice for it to integrate with other apps that could be beneficial, i.e. Canva, Hootsuite, etc.

Return on Investment

  • Saves time
  • Increases the clarity and depth of my writing
  • Offers suggestions to make it better

My mixed experience with Grammarly Business

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use it for writing emailer contect, product roadmaps, marketing messaging communications, video scripts, newsletters, landing pages content etc. I am part of the marketing team and we utilize it for writing and framing both internal and external content. Grammarly is used across Marketing, finance, legal and other ancillary teams.

Pros

  • Identifying wrong spelling, or english language spelling as per the country language. For example while writing an email to Americans, we might use the spelling color, rather than colour to give more personalisation.
  • Detecting AI langauge and making communications more authentic.
  • Ease of passing access to the account across team members.

Cons

  • UI is very annoying, the hovering cloud of shut down button can be avoided.
  • Very relentless in highlighting wrong grammar, the red highlights gets annoying on screen while typing.
  • Instead of real time checking, i would prefer all at once after writing my piece.

Return on Investment

  • Cannot attribute it directly but our emails open rates have increased.
  • Clients appreciate the brevity which we can get from using Grammarly.
  • Marketing content has become more conversion oriented.
