I Am So Thankful for This Platform

GoTo has been an amazing platform and made my life as admin exponentially easier. I cover 3 dispersed locations across the US and one in Canada. Overall, we have around 50 lines, auto-attendants, shop intercoms, and alert functions set up. The install was easy, service is consistently good, the admin portal is user friendly, and the apps are reliable and intuitive. I love that when we have people out of the office that I can, in less than 5 minutes, have all of the lines from one branch rerouted to another and can reverse it even faster once the office is manned again. Holiday messages have never been easier to manage with scheduled adjustments to the call plan that I can set at the beginning of the year, all planned holidays and employee events are covered and I never have to think about them again. If an unplanned event comes up, it is only a couple of minutes to update the plan and we are good to go again. I really can't say enough good things about my experience with GoTo Connect.

Cons

  • I wish I could use the speed dials from my phone on the apps
  • I wish there was a regular reboot of phones during off hours to help from the inevitable glitches of VoIP phones
  • It would be nice if extensions were updated without the need to reboot phones.

Return on Investment

  • It takes only a fraction of the time to set up new extensions or take down old ones compared to previous providers.
  • The quick moving of lines keeps customers from getting stuck on voicemails and allows the continued person-to-person contact.
  • As the sole admin, I am able to continue with other projects rather than getting bogged down trying to keep our phones up.

GoTo Connect is a fully featured voice over IP phone system similar to RingCentral or 8 x 8 and is also bundled with additional services that can be used for troubleshooting and such as remote diagnostics. It supports a variety of standard phones that can be used for voice communications, and it also includes numerous other forms of communication such instant messaging and conferencing.

Pros

  • The fluffy services are standard and easy to use
  • The conference is fully featured and can allow you to do things that you would normally do with Zoom or other collaborative products

Cons

  • They could improve the variety of the telephones that are supported compared to others such as the full range of Cisco Phones in Cisco video phone
  • They could directly integrate with Teams, but if you already have Teams and you probably don’t need this

Return on Investment

  • Is definitely more cost-effective than a telephone service for centric or otherwise
  • It’s definitely cheaper than Zoom for large mediums

GoTo Connect helps our business & clients stay connected on the go, as well as reach into other markets than our Austin, TX HQ with virtual DIDs, contact center, and SMS/txt messaging. We also LOVE the "Zoom equivalent" of GoTo Meeting that's now FULLY integrated into GoTo Connect. It allows our hybrid workforce to quickly, seemlessly, and effectively communicate, collaborate, and share our screens with participants to increase the experience & process. I'm starting to FORGET how we did work BEFORE we had this level of collaboration capability. It's HUGE for our business.

Pros

  • Quick Mtg Starts, 1x click options to add people (phone or computer)
  • Allows for PLENTY of participants, and NO TIME LIMITs on mtgs
  • When synching a video or some multi-media presentation within the platform during an online mtg, it's fantastic

Cons

  • Making a dedicated button for "mute all" (other than yourself) for when someone "walks off before they mute"/has to quickly leave their computer....and FORGOT to Mute. Particularly when dogs are barking when someone working from home has a visitor at the door
  • I'd like to see some of the functionality from GoTo Webinar enabled for GoTo Connect: see who's "actively watching" vs has their computer screen on another application

  • GoTo Connect 100% enables our remote & hybrid office/home office workforce to have a SOLID experience working from virtually anywhere...
  • We no longer waste time or $$$$$ on useless desk top handsets that just cost extra $$$ & take up space on the users' workspace. With integrating a wired or wireless headset, we've reduced our setup costs & improved the lives of our workforce allowing them to roam around the office wirelessly (just like on their cell phones) with GoTo Connect
  • It's saved us time, money, & headaches on telephony BCDR (business continuity/disaster recovery), as if we have any interruption in internet access at the office, the calls can be automatically handled by mobile phone using 5G/LTE cellular data.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use it for all our desk phones and we have iPhones for portable use that just do not have a sim card installed. We utilize voice mail, Paging through Algo devices and have door phones for calling people in our building after hours from access doors. We had an old on-premise Samsung phone system that was aging and had limited features. Also when Samsung dropped support for their system it made it difficult to get ahold of parts and support. Switching to GoTo saved us a ton of time and effort as well as allowed us to move away from our EnGenius portables that had horrible reception in our building.

Return on Investment

  • We saved a lot of time in the IT department every month dealing with issues and broken phones that couldn't be replaced by our old system. IT was getting down to the "we cannot fix that" type of situation. so at least 20+ hours a month of time was given back.
  • We are able to filter Robo Calls better with a receptionist auto attendant that traps the bots unless they can dial the correct number. The reduction of at least 98% of the fake calls we were getting to our main number was a side effect.
  • We got all our desk phones for free with the service and that was a huge savings.
  • our mobile phones are able to be used for so much more than just calling now that we use iPhones, our people are more productive because they are not fighting with their phone all day not working.
