Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use GoodData to connect and visualise various data sets. We have several dashboards for different services, overview dashboards etc. The usage is wide across all the functions (data analysts, marketers, sales reps, managers, ). We use GoodData with an ETL tool Keboola because they have a goood integration and it's quite easy to load data from Keboola to GoodData.

Visualising data, daily check-ups, showing trends, visualising LTV, page visits and many other metrics.

Metrics have to be always created, there's no default like SUM(metric)

It's good for small projects with not that many metrics and reports. Managing huge projects can be cumbersome. However there's a very good technical support. They are always willing to help and they reply quite quickly. They even do backups and are willing to revert to a previous day version if needed.

We use GoodData to embed analytics in our platform to deliver actionable insights for our customers.

Using GoodData allows us to devlier more meaningful insights for our customers, it has shifted the effort of developing metrics, insights, and reports away from the development team and onto the Data team allowing us to be more agile and iterate more quickly.

Pros

It is very flexible, and allows us to simplify complex SQL through the use of metrics
Security is built-in to the platform through the use of Workspaces
Analytics as code allows us to develop as a software team

Cons

More join types in the data modelling
Being able to coalesce values in the data model, without converting to a SQL model

Likelihood to Recommend

GoodData is well suited to teams that want to develop analytics as code, have in-built tenancy, and enable the data team to operate like a software engineering team with PRs, deploys from commit refs, etc

It helps our teams create clear dashboards some good reports that are easy to act on. also we connect it to different systems GoodData brings all the data together in one place that make it easy to understand for us in real time.

So in our case GoodData helps us solve key problems related to data management and decision makings. Our process of analysing data from multiple sources that save our time and energy. also it handle growing data needs by making analytics easy for non tech members in our team.

It handles our large amounts of data without compromise on security
We get useful custom reports which provides insights that are actionable and relevant for us
Easy to use dashboards for our team who can easily track performance and identify areas for improvement

Real time data is must now so refresh rates could be faster for time sensitive insights
Ready to use dashboards would save time and energy for our team
Some features are complex and may require more training

In my scenario GoodData is perfect for our business needs like clear insights from large amounts of data. For example it’s ideal for tracking sales performance across regions, helping me and my fellow managers see which products are selling best.Also great for customer behavior analysis for combining data from websites and apps to improve our marketing strategies time to time

We are an IT software company and we use GoodData for enhancing our decisions making capabilities and make smooth operations through the advanced analytics it offers. We integrated GoodData platform for quite some time now and we can now use raw data into insightful information with it's advance dashboards and tools that helps my teams a lot.

In our case GoodData platform solves our major business problems like Data was of no use earlier, and decision making from the insights.GoodData helps our business identify new trends and optimise the operations.

Pros

First by allowing our teams to share very useful data reports, dashboards also important business insights that makes our teams work more practically.
Second example is GoodData platform keeps sensitive information safe by it's role-based access control with data privacy which helped in protecting sensitive information.
Third example is by handling our Real Huge volumes of data and processing it into useful insights that matter to us.

Cons

First and foremost important is GoodData should regularly update the platform. There are hardly any updates in the past year.
Sometimes it's slow when handling extreme large datasets.
GoodData's implementation is quite a task and it takes few weeks of time to do that so that's an area of improvement.

Likelihood to Recommend

In my experience of using GoodData platform it's best for analyzing customer usage patterns and making data driven product improvement.
Also GoodData does really well in managing and reporting on project KPIs between our entire organisational teams. Integrate the data from various sources and using it to make key decisions is our best real use scenerio.

We are using GoodData to help our clients with their employee engagement reporting dashboard metrics and insights. This allows for our clients to see at a glance the effort their engagement methods success rate looks like. This also helps our clients make next action plans on increasing their employee engagement needs.

The business problems GoodData addresses is giving our clients the means to see the performance over a specific period of time so that they can develop and implement the appropriate next steps.

Pros

Organized and Clean layout of dashboards.
Simple setup to get started.
dedicated point of contact and support staff.

Cons

Sometimes changing insights for customization isn't very clear without support
When running into a bug, sometimes finding the source ID is difficult for our reporters

Likelihood to Recommend

I would recommend GoodData based off the ease of use of the dashboards, how organized the reports look and the insights they provide. I also highly appreciated the implementation process being as seamless as it was, with several meetings that guided us through, what to expect and how to best build our reports. They also offered to provide training sessions with our internal team who works more closely with our clients so they felt more comfortable using the dashboard and setup.

Pros

GoodData offers amazing tools for creating customized reports for us business, valuable insights and communicate effectively within the organization.
This platform supports agile analytics, enabling us to quickly adapt and respond to evolving business needs and gives great analytics.
GoodData is integrated by us in many data sources, including third-party apps, it ensures a unified view of data-driven insights across the organization.

Cons

Firstly I would like to mention about its complex setup, that is quite a task initially.
Secondly the time as well it took to get initiated was around a month.
I would like to mention the learning curve in the beginning that took my team some time to cope up and after that everything looks great!

It's a great tool when it comes to handling large datasets. So, if you're dealing with a ton of information, GoodData is the solution.

I could not imagine any scenario where GoodData would be less or inappropriate.

Data Integration, GoodData helped us providing a unified view for data from various sources. This is very crucial for us while fragmenting data across departments.
We used GoodData to monitor the performance of products, services, and marketing campaigns, that helped us optimize strategies for better results.
We used GoodData for revenue analyzing and optimizing various revenue streams, pricing strategies as well.

Cons

We faced challenges with GoodData's configuration and setup as well, which made it hard learning.
There is a room for better data visualization options and more flexibility in customizing reports.
I personally found it complex at the beginning while setup.

Likelihood to Recommend

Based on my personal experience with GoodData I would like to mention last month's scenario when we were completely helpless in classifying and measuring our revenue sources to make a $100,000 marketing deal decision. Revenue Analytics has really helped us the most to date. Secondly, I would like to mention about another scenario where me and my team were really concerned about our data security.

Internal reporting platform. Over 600 users on a daily basis across a wide range of subject matter, from revenue to website traffic, client contracts, product activity etc. We have multiple active workspaces with many dashboards that are used extensively

Helps us monitor and manage contract delivery/fulfillment as well has "health" of our various products and websites.
Provides supporting information for our sales team for new sales, cross sales, upsells and renewals of our subscription products

Pros

Ease of use when onboarding new users
Easy to build new dashboards (classic version)
performance for highly used reporting objects

Cons

would be nice to be able to add the same filter to a multi-tab dashboard once instead of having to do it for each tab; tedious and time consuming
Variable use is kind of clunky and would like to be able to hide/show easier
The newer insight based dashboard method does not have the flexibility classic does

Likelihood to Recommend

I think GoodData is probably most well suited to companies or divisions that don't have a dedicated data team and where the admins of the system don't have a lot of technical expertise. I think it's less suited for companies that have highly complex data models and end use needs.
Some of their recommendations like limiting to 8 filters for a dashboard is ridiculous. We regularly use up to 20 because the demands of our business require it. I also feel like the developers should be attempting to use their product themselves for real use cases. I think they would have better insight to how some things can be clunky or frustrating.
