Finance Analytics Room For Improvement

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

D&B Finance Analytics is used to review company financials in our labor organization. It addresses various problems we have with finding specific or high level quantifies to determine a companies financial well-being. For example, Credit reports & risk scores allow us to see the value in organizing a company from a labor perspective. If they are not financially viable they may not have a long term future.

Pros

  • Credit reports & risk scores
  • Portfolio analysis / risk breakdowns
  • Corporate family tree

Cons

  • Easier to manage alert set ups
  • Data is not always the most current, needs to be reviewed carefully
  • Filtering could be better

Return on Investment

  • Positive: easy of access to challenging to find private company information
  • Negative: having to check sources further to determine timeline vs other platforms
  • Positive: Useful high level summaries of company interests

D&B Finance Analytics offers a lot of data but there's a cost

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

D&B Finance Analytics is used as a primary source for making credit decisions and monitoring the health of our clients.

Pros

  • Compiles a large pool of data from multiple industries
  • Provides a nice format for reading the data
  • Customer support is relatively responsive

Cons

  • Reliability of Data is suspect with multiple records for the same company and missing or contradictory information within.
  • Pursuing and incentivizing both self reporting and creditor reporting - data is often outdated or missing
  • Consistency between tools often charts and details do not match

Return on Investment

  • D&B Finance Analytics provides us with a standard on which to base our decisions which reduces processing time.
  • Erroneous information has caused delays or inaccurate decisions and as a result lost business. The lack or reliability has caused us to add new secondary verification steps and look for supplemental report providers (additional costs)
