Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Checkout.com payment gateway for collecting payments from customers who make hotel reservations on our website. We only use it for card payments. Recently also started using it for digital wallet payments (Apple Pay), soon will enable Google Pay too. However, would like to also offer APMs and instalment payments to our customers.

Pros

  • 3Ds document is clear and mentions about liability shift
  • Payouts are daily
  • reports are easily accessible with reports API

Cons

  • more APMs without the requirement for the merchant to have a company in the local market
  • instalment payment options with free instalment to customers in various regions
  • showing balance figures in dashboard

Return on Investment

  • Enabled Apple Pay only through Checkout.com because the 3DS document was well-written and clear about liability shift conditions

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Checkout is our primary payment provider for debit and credit card deposits in the EU, UK, and Australia. This gives us an alternative to SEPA deposits and one that allows us to build more attractive products on top of them (for instance, subscription services, which don't work functionally with SEPA deposits but are really easy with cards).

Pros

  • Payment Recon.
  • Refunds
  • Chargeback Handling.
  • Fraud Detection.
  • Customer Service.

Cons

  • Need to add pre-arbitrations and arbitrations to the portal directly.
  • Support for deferred debit cards.

Return on Investment

  • Checkout has allowed us to enter markets worldwide without having to find a new provider—the same seamless experience across Europe, the UK, and Australia.
  • The efficient chargeback setup on the portal allows us to monitor and respond to chargebacks promptly and efficiently, and help is always available for cases that are a little less black or white.
