We concentrated on process mining operations connected to health care initiatives, such as process automation, simulation, and machine learning while keeping everything integrated with the purpose of improving business processes where Celonis play an important role. It also aids us in bettering compliance and risk management, as well as making better decisions.
Pros
Celonis Performs well in data verification.
Celonis create good operational efficiencies.
Every Celonis customer can now take use of the Celonis Academy, which is now available for free.
Cons
Not all of the templates available in the on-premise content store are available in the EMS Content Store, as we've discovered.
Data from Celonis EMS (cloud) is difficult to export into other systems.
The number of PQL functions available is restricted, and sophisticated calculations might be difficult to implement using PQL statements.
Likelihood to Recommend
We've been working with Celonis on machine learning projects over the past two years, and the support they gave to help us move to the EMS platform was critical to the project's success. In addition, the framework created around value realization has aided us in extracting more value from the product. We were also focused on process automation to verify the data available with health care.
Sales orders representing 62% of revenue are interrupted due to delivery creation
failure caused by product unavailability.
The ability to drill down by
materials, customers, sales organizations, branches and etc. will result in a prioritization of delivery creation failure. Work
with different personnel/departments to reduce delivery creation failure.
Pros
Preparing tables while tying data columns from different data tables from disparate systems
Creating alerts for certain business conditions and sending those alerts to users of concerns
Monitoring business value created by a process improvement use case
Cons
Writing back to third party systems (not belonging to clients)
Retrieving data from third party systems (not belonging to clients)
Using preconstructed tables to use for S&OP processes
Likelihood to Recommend
Transparency
of manual picks is a problem since the [number] of numbers of sales kits
associated with a sales order is not visible to the manager of the labor
force.
Warehouse labor workforce planning
needs to be based on an actual number of sales order lines items populated after
exploding sales BOM associated with sales kits. Celonis provides the transparency of a number of picks and hence my client is saving $3.5M premium spent on warehouse labor force and freight expenses annually.
Process Mining Consulting: Creation of new and developed use cases [for] customers in different industries and business areas. Objectives:
Process Transparency & Visualization.
Improvement of KPIs.
Reduction of process variants/standardization Scope: mainly P2P/AP/O2C/AR initially, [afterward] often Production/Logistics, etc.
Pros
Enablement through trainings (Celonis Academy).
General overview of process variants with variant/process explorer.
User interface.
Cons
UI: scaling of text/KPIs (cut offs).
Overview of user adoption (logins, user activity) also for consulting services.
Automatic creation of a dashboard for technical documentation/KPI definitions that are implemented.
Likelihood to Recommend
Well suited: Compared to other Process Mining technologies big advantages in Value Realization and [actually] implementing solutions and actions that support the customer in daily business. Less appropriate: As BPM tool to define target processes and measure the actual difference to the as-is process.
We consult companies that want to discover bottlenecks within their processes (various branches). Besides that, getting more transparency is focused on, and therefore Celonis is implemented. Some use cases for example are automation rate, re-work analysis, dashboards, etc.. After the implementation, the value generation is a big part of our consulting service, where the customer is getting supported how to use Celonis to generate real value within their company.
Pros
Transparency of processes.
Discovery of bottlenecks within the process.
Propositions for optimization.
Cons
Simulation: Valide simulation option.
Action Engine: Provision of overview of automated changes by Celonis, testing & duplication option for automation skills.
UI: selectable text size, overall theme definition of Dashboards.
Likelihood to Recommend
Celonis is well suited for the analysis of many cases that differ from each other and that do not follow the same path through a process. Especially suitable for analysing if the processes are really conformant to the target process and where the most critical deviations occur. Besides that, a good tool to analyse process for automation rates and potential to automate and digitize process steps.
Used mainly for transparency of the whole cycle time of various processes, identify inefficiencies, pain points, and who/what is causing them.
Pros
Identification of wrongly calculated credit notes to their customers.
Identification of paid too early invoices and the working capital impact of it.
Identification of the double paid invoices.
Cons
More functionality in Transformation Center (splits per customized fields, possibility to split the KPI by more than one dimension).
More functionality on notifications per email (e.g. based on the OLAP table in the analysis).
In Action Engine, have the possibility to send an email with the information of "details" of the signal, not only the information that is written in the signal itself.
Likelihood to Recommend
A great tool to have a visibility on the efficiency of your processes.
We use it across the whole organization, as we implement extractions, transformations, and analyses for our customers. We build it for them to use and help them with optimizing their processes. All data scientists do exactly that, while the consultants mainly use the interface the customers also use and have direct contact.
Pros
Easy data extraction if SAP.
PU-functions.
Easy to use interface.
Cons
Extractions: the code.
Servers often slow on cluster 3.
Slow support.
Likelihood to Recommend
Celonis is very well suited to analyze your own processes and analyze your company. Most use cases can be created easily.

We perform consulting services and implementations with Celonis software. Our customers use Celonis in different areas. The main processes are O2C, P2P, PP, and AP. But we also implement dunning and receivables management, etc. Usually, the analyses refer to delays, rework or serve the customer as to general reports or overviews.
Pros
Visualization of the process and possibility to analyze it in the Process Explorer.
Easy to use user interface.
Cons
Filtering of specific Components is sometimes not working with PU functions.
The pivot table is very rigid, not individually changeable.
Recalculation of the APC should be done at least every 24h.
Likelihood to Recommend
Celonis is very applicable for processes in logistics, supply chain, etc. Less well suited for accounting processes, but this also has to do with the SAP structure and storage of the data. Sometimes it would be useful to have tables that can display a results row because otherwise the sum must be added as a single component.
We implement Celonis for our customers on a consulting basis. Celonis can be used in a single department or across the whole organization. Depending on the goals of the organization, various business processes can be modeled and mined for increased efficiency, performance, or compliance. Standard processes include purchase to pay, accounts payable, IT support management, or any other topic that has digital records that can be extracted and loaded into the Celonis platform. Increased transparency and awareness of the business processes allow for actionable improvements whether through the Celonis supported features with alerts and automation, or simply by changing the practices of the organization.
Pros
Responsive visualization of data.
Make data interactive for the end user.
Create transparency in the targeted business process.
Cons
Celonis marketing can set exaggerated expectations for customers in terms of capabilities and savings potential.
Customers need to understand that implementing Celonis is one task and that generating value from the platform will require work in itself.
Invest more in improving the "back end" features of the platform that affect the implementation partners while improving the end-user experience.
Likelihood to Recommend
Celonis succeeds with large data sets and processes that operate at scale. If your organization processes less than a few thousand cases in a process (i.e. purchase orders, invoices, help tickets, etc.) per year, then it will be much more challenging to generate value that will cover the high cost of the software. There are certainly exceptions to this statement but it is often true. It is also critical that the process you want to mine with Celonis has captured digital footprints via SAP, ServiceNow, JIRA, Salesforce, or another database system. If the process is not sufficiently documented, you will not be able to create a valuable digital model.

We are implementing Celonis in different customers. Most of the implementations start with departamental needs and processes. In banking, Credit Applications is the entry process. In other industries we are seeing Logistics, Maintenance and Customer-Facing processes as leading areas.
Main business problem is lack of visibility of how processes really run and the impact bottlenecks, rework, and compliance issues have both operationally and financially for the company.
Pros
Visibility: the reality of how processes work.
Impact (in time, resources and money) of bottlenecks, rework, and process deviation.
Compliance: how do processes deviate and most common deviations.
Cons
Pricing - more alternatives.
Language availability.
Customer success stories.
Likelihood to Recommend
There are several scenarios where Celonis is well suited. First and foremost those that are related to the understanding and improvement of processes. Those related to the optimization of operations that involve different people, areas and systems. Those where everything thinks they know how a process works but no one really knows how it really works.
Second, those instances where you want to understand root causes and impacts of certain activities.
Third, when you are planning to redesign processes, migrate tools or transform operations.
The secret is visibility. Real-time visibility based on granular information which can be analyzed in detail.
