Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We need a centralized patching and OS patching tool that can also enable us to enhance our vulnerability remediation capabilities. We also wanted a tool that was lightweight and not too intrusive on the user experience. We are a scale-up tech company that requires real-time patching and OS patching, while also having the flexibility to deploy worklets and scripts to support users.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Automox as our primary RMM tool. It handles all of our 3rd party patching on our endpoints and has just recently took the place of WSUS as our server OS patching tool of choice. Automox saves us so much time every day that it has paid for itself in IT hours within the first year of use.

  • Lightweight endpoint
  • Great pre-canned policies available to use out of the box

Cons

  • Can be a bit to learn if you don't start with Automox university
  • Some of the new worklets can be problematic
  • More roadmapping

Return on Investment

  • We were able to get rid of WSUS
  • we No longer use SCCM for end point updates
  • no longer need to import CVEs from our siem and take action on them in intune

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We integrate Automox with Rapid7 for helpful and quick vulnerability scanning and reporting. We use Automox as our main patching solution. It helps us stay up to date on security and updates and allows us to fully tailor it to our needs in a simple to understand format.

Pros

  • Fantastic user interface. Dashboard is great to use and easy to understand.
  • Allows you to set up as many policies as needed so the customization aspect is top notch.
  • Being able to add tags for device groups makes policy creation such a breeze.
  • Saves our team so much time we used to spend on vulnerability patching

Cons

  • The graphs and other widgets on the dashboard need to allow for customization. Without this, these are almost useless in certain environments based on your needs and priorities.
  • I think the user activity reporting could be simplified without having to rely on referencing user numbers, etc.
  • More options could be added for automatic email reporting for specific jobs

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Automox for patch remediation and remote support. Unlike most other platforms we can use Automox to patch all of our devices regardless of the OS. Our previous RMM platform was limited in this aspect and Automox not only filled this gap but did so at a lesser price point

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We have a pretty sizeable number of mobile clients and trying to get those devices in house on a regular basis was problematic. Automox enabled us to be able to automate a lot of software patching and maintenance that reduced exposure windows and enabled employees to continue to work without the inconvenience of having to bring their devices to the office for patching and updating.
