Automox is primarily utilized by organizations for comprehensive patch management, ensuring up-to-date software and operating systems to reduce vulnerability exposure and streamline IT operations. In TrustRadius reviews, it is also valued for vulnerability remediation and as an endpoint management solution, simplifying device oversight. A majority of reviewers report significant time savings for IT staff, allowing reallocation of resources from patching and administration tasks. The platform's automation and scripting capabilities, particularly through 'worklets,' are central to this efficiency, enabling uninterrupted employee work during maintenance.
Reviewers often commend the intuitive user interface and clear dashboard, contributing to ease of use. However, common feedback highlights limitations in dashboard and reporting customization, with some desiring more tailored widgets and automated email reports. There is also a request for a broader catalog of pre-built worklets and more detailed error reporting. Overall, the sentiment indicates Automox effectively boosts operational efficiency and improves security posture through automated patching and increased visibility.

We at our agency use Automox mainly to automate the patching and updates for about 200 Windows servers, allowing us to automate compliance and security without a whole lot of manual work. Automox helps us solve business problems around providing security, availability to systems, and managing the IT workforce. The service is a vital part of our overall patch strategy and ongoing maintenance of infrastructure.
Pros
Manage our windows updates and compliance
Reduce time needed to manage updates
Quickly report on out of compliance devices
Cons
Default reports are too generic and do not allow for much customization for detailed audits or summaries
More granular control over update windows for various device groups would be more useful
Native patching for many commonly used third-party applications
Likelihood to Recommend
It is well-suited for centralized patch management within a remote or distributed environment because it is native to the cloud.
It is not suitable for legacy or overly customized systems that need unusual update processing.

We use Automox to Monitor and patch all of our systems (servers and workstations) . this task used to be very daunting however Automox has made these much easier even adding the ability to update 3rd part app and apply setting to selected machines within the fleet
Pros
effective update
seemless reporting
easy to use
single pane of glass interface
Cons
reporting of machines that no longer show within active directory (if noted as requirement
show last known patch (cumulative) in case where multiple incrementals show
email summary reports on scheduled basis
Likelihood to Recommend
after dealing with WSUS and SCCM update as well as plain old windows update this is a breeze

Automated patching across MacOS and Windows, as well as worklets for automation of scripts etc., and vulnerability remediation. There's plenty of patching products out there, but few that cover multiple platforms. To avoid vendor sprawl, we looked at Automox as a single vendor for all the platforms that we support across the business.
Pros
Automated Patching
Ease of use
Ease of setup
Cons
Vulnerability Remediations - We use Tenable, and I have yet to have a vulnerability import that has found vulnerabilities that Automox can sort automatically. Everything is still manual.
macOS - The secure token issue for OS patching. Automox are aware and seems to be working on it, but the current advice relies on the end user having admin, which is a security no no.
Likelihood to Recommend
For companies covering multiple platforms, that want to avoid multiple portals to learn, access, etc. to patch and manage these platforms, Automox is great. It's probably on par with other solutions we looked into in terms of functionality, etc. but the multiplatform is a huge advantage the other solutions don't have.

We use it to deploy updates and some side IT subjects with Worklets. it helps us stay in control with all of our endpoints and servers. automatically update everything and not missing crucial updates and security issues.
Pros
Taking care of updates for all of our operating systems, Windows, Linux and MacOS
have a wide range of 3rd party database to update
great Worklets field that keeps growing monthly
Cons
I think active updates implementing reports should have more information
away to update endpoint users before closing 3rd party apps when updates are being deployed
Likelihood to Recommend
helped us close some security issues ASAP automatically on the weekend, so we didn't have to worry about anything.
we had some issues with end users while their 3rd party apps were closing in the middle of work, when the update policy took place.

We have deployed Automox to a mixed Windows and MacOS environment. Having a mixed environment presents the issue of trying to patch two different operating systems across a very distributed enterprise. Automox helps reduce having a dedicated application for each operating system by being a single pane of glass. We have worklets/policies in place to patch each OS as vendor updates come in or CVE's.
Pros
Patching
Application deployment
End User device information/reporting
Cons
When changing the device name on the web interface, it would be great if that change also reflects on the end user device
Possibly consolidating the different report types, it gets a little confusing
Being able to move devices between OU's within the web console

I really wish I had Automox at the enterprise I used to work at. Automox truly makes the patching process super simple and easy. The Automox UI is easy on the eyes and it's mostly easy to navigate. Support is quick and super helpful. Otto AI is also helpful when trying to create a custom script!

We use Automox as a patch management, software management, and remote control tool. It works fantastically for both. The remote control is very secure and works great in all OS versions. Patch management is very easy to setup and works well. One of my favorite parts of Automox is the worklets. It makes software management so easy and allows you to use the power of powershell to do a lot tasks without having to remote into the computer. The best part is the user is none the wiser.
Pros
Patch management
Software/Machine Management
Remote control
Cons
The only tricky thing is setting restart/reboot deferrals is a little tricky.

Automox is topnotch in the patch management realm, easy to use and setup. Their remote control tool is great and secure. I love how it uses a secure tunnel, that builds and tears down at the start and end of the session, with each session. So it's far more secure than other alternatives.

We use Automox to mass patch our computers to ensure they all are working properly, updated/patched, and have the latest security patches. We have around 150 machines that are utilizing Automox and are automatically added via intune.
Pros
Patching
Searching specific software and updating it
Worklets
Easily seeing compliant devices
Cons
Remote access is clunky
Likelihood to Recommend
The ability to patch and keep all of our systems updated and patched has solved many issues for us that are usually solved by a simple software update. It's perfect for most situations. I don't see a reason to not use it unless there are very few machines that need IT attention.
