Acumatica functions as a core ERP system for manufacturing organizations, integrating critical financial operations, supply chain management, and production processes. Reviewers, with 19% noting its role as their ERP backbone, frequently highlight its profound adaptability and customization capabilities, essential for aligning with unique production workflows and bespoke manufacturing requirements. Its ease of use facilitates adoption across diverse roles from the shop floor to administration, while robust reporting tools provide crucial operational insights.

While Acumatica delivers positive ROI through enhanced data visibility and streamlined processes, some manufacturers, representing 8% of the cohort, desire more comprehensive out-of-the-box reports, such as Bills of Lading, critical for shipping and compliance. The user interface can be perceived as clunky, potentially slowing adoption for production staff, and customization, though powerful, can be complex. Overall, reviewers find Acumatica a flexible solution that drives operational efficiency and better decision-making, despite specific areas for improvement in reporting and user experience.

  • Adaptability to unique production workflows and business models.
  • Extensive customization for bespoke manufacturing requirements.
  • Comprehensive financial, supply chain, and production management.
  • Robust reporting for operational performance and financial health.
  • Efficient inventory management, including lot and serial tracking.
  • Limited out-of-the-box reporting, particularly for critical documents like Bills of Lading.
  • User interface can be perceived as clunky, impacting shop floor adoption.
  • Complexity and cost associated with advanced customization for production needs.
  • Insufficient detailed sales and inventory reports requiring manual effort.
  • Concerns regarding the availability and cost of manufacturing-specific training and support.

Acumatica - Best of the few

Rating: 8 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Acumatica is our ERP system. We run Rental360 on top of the system to manage all our rental business across 2 companies and 4 locations. We additionally use work order management for service and repairs, and inventory for tracking and charging parts. We use multiple companies to manage our sister companies for Insurance, Properties and Holding Company. Their modern web-based and user customizable interface makes it the right product for us.

Pros

  • Cash Based Financials
  • Hosting / Availability / Accessability
  • User Generated Inquiries (Generic Inquiries)
  • Multi Company / Multi Location / Multi Branch Support
  • Intercompany

Cons

  • User Dashboarding
  • Publishing customer objects to UI / User Model
  • Resellers / 3rd Party Support

Likelihood to Recommend

Web based model with back end hosting makes it a no-brainer for any entity without a strong IT department. Accessible anywhere, any browser works great. Upgrades generally have good enhancements. Need a better visual for the data model. Need to improve dashboard functionality. Need to make security / user access model less cumbersome.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We currently use Acumatica for finance and accounting purposes, with the goal being to expand its use across the rest of the company over time.

Pros

  • Report designer is easy to pick up for those with no experience
  • Everything is where you expect it to be, very navigable
  • The tool tips at every turn are very helpful and well thought out

Cons

  • It's difficult to undo things in the system if you make an error

Likelihood to Recommend

It's well suited for most businesses, semiconductor manufacturing may be a little outside its out of the box capability but not impossible.

Acumatica for a Packaging Company

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Acumatica is our core ERP system utilized for anything from processing sales/purchase orders to tracking inventory, loading sales information, reporting/KPI's, finance & accounting, and payroll. We have the commissions and CRM modules in addition to the standard ERP.

Pros

  • Order processing
  • Inventory management
  • Sales reporting
  • Finance & accounting

Cons

  • Out of the box payroll is tedious and has several unnecessary steps.
  • Sales reporting out of the box could be more detailed, perhaps the option to customize the first 3 reports specific to the company's needs would be helpful.
  • Allotted support hours included in annual subscription. We currently use a 3rd party which can add up quickly to ask simple questions or request basic modifications.

Likelihood to Recommend

Acumatica is moldable, most importantly, and is also overall easy to learn and use. The most tedious thing is customizing it to match our business model and keeping those customizations up to date with each upgrade.

Acumatica Review

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Acumatica to take care of all of our accounting ERP needs that we have, and we use it to integrate with Procore who does our project management, and so we need a system that is able to integrate back and forth between our accounting and our project management.

Pros

  • We just went live recently about two weeks ago, so we are here at Acumatica Summit to see all of the things that it's capable of. One of the things that it is capable of is the dashboards and the integration with some of these third party people to make sure we can get the data that we need when we need it, and so we're really looking forward to getting all that live for us.

Cons

  • We don't know too much yet as we're just now going live, but the customization that the thing that's nice about a software like this, you are able to customize it very well easily, but that takes a little bit of understanding to get to know that and so we're not quite there yet. That'd probably be my complaint, even though it's not really a complaint, it's just able to do too much for us.

Likelihood to Recommend

It is well suited because it appears to have been designed to work across multiple industries and we've kind of seen that it works well for the construction industry, but we've been here at Acumatica Summit and seeing a lot of other industries being able to use the same product, so they have designed it well

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Sales order entry to work order creation to invoicing - we use Acumatica to manage our entire sales, production and finance functions.

Pros

  • Easy to use
  • Robust options
  • Low code / no code

Cons

  • Better reporting - PowerBI type visualizations
  • Better native MRP capability

Likelihood to Recommend

Great manufacturing ERP.

Great Value ERP

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Acumatica is capable of handling essentially all the needs of our organization. One of the most salient issues it handles is the need for ad-hoc reporting. For instance, an executive may need certain metrics that don't exist in the data, except via interpolation - this is easy to do in an Acumatica Generic Inquiry, which allows me to write complex queries without needing to know any SQL. I can join to any number of tables, create formulas that compute on-the-fly, and export the data to any number of formats (csv, Excel, OData, API, SQL) either on-demand, scheduled, or as an event trigger.

Pros

  • Generic Inquiries
  • Product Innovation
  • Acts on Customer Feedback

Cons

  • User Interface can be slow and clunky
  • Dashboards are slow (especially on lengthy historical data)
  • Import/Export scenarios are powerful, but challenging to create

Likelihood to Recommend

Mid-Market business appears to be Acumatica's sweet-spot. There could be some pain-points in companies with thousands of users, and the cost might be prohibitive for entrepreneurs or small companies (i.e., QuickBooks-level)

Wonderful, Easy to Use ERP for growing companies.

Rating: 8 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are a consumer goods company. Acumatica is used as the central point for the entire company. From finance, accounting, order entry, WMS, inbound/outbound freight management, PO entry, etc.

Pros

  • An easy to use platform that new users can pickup easily.
  • Great user interface and ease of navigation.
  • Ability to customize and enhance the system easily. It has a great tech stack!

Cons

  • Addition of item revisioning.
  • Improve the ecosystem to upgrade easier. It takes 2-3 months after a release to get ISV packages to start the upgrade process. They should be available within 1-2 weeks of a new release.
  • Improvement of allocations for specific customers and orders. While they system allows allocations with the SA order type, allocations require sales orders and it isn't the easiest process.

Likelihood to Recommend

Acumatica is well-suited for straight forward distributors and manufacturers. If you have complex requirements, Acumatica can also sustain it through customizations but it can make the upgrade process lengthy with QA testing prior to upgrading.

Acumatica Review

Rating: 8 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We converted from an old mainframe system and moved all of our financials into Acumatica. The conversion was needed due to mainframe support/maintenance being sunset. Compared to our old system, Acumatica provides much better visibility to the data and ease of use to our accounting team.

Pros

  • Generic Inquiries - being able to quickly create a GI to get data per user requests
  • Ability to export to Excel

Cons

  • Generic Inquiries - Sometimes time out and get 'system cannot generate record count' error. This is frustrating as it doesn't allow users to export the full result set into Excel.

Likelihood to Recommend

We like all of the different options to display data and export data, via dashboard widgets, GIs, etc. One area it seems Acumatica struggles is handling large amounts of data. The dashboards we created on Day 1 keep getting slower and slower to load the more data we add to the system.
