Overall Satisfaction with ScienceLogic SL1

Depending of the devices to be integrated, it can be smooth or not.
It is used for a particular product, called Unified Communications. ScienceLogic is monitoring and creating reports for this product. In some cases, it is helping us to generate our report for our customers, i.e. when a customer migration happens. Also, we create some intelligence about alarming, so the service is better monitored.

Cons

  • Hardware requirements too high.
  • Tracing tool.
  • Professional reporting tool.

Yes - PCA from Cisco. The alarm from the previous tool was really poor, and we were having several incidents without a proper alarm system.
Nowadays, our product is propertly monitored, so customer are more happy.

ScienceLogic is a power tool, as a point to improve is to reduce the number of resources needed.
  • Alarming rules.
  • Dashboard reporting.
  • It is helping to maintenance our product.
I was not involved in the decission, it was more business decission. PCA was a product without accurate alarms.
As an alarming tool it is really powerful. Regarding alarming in Cisco Hosted Collaboration Solution can improve, being more efficiency, and trying to reduce the number of API queries.
If the device or product is not having a PowerPack create, it needs some development to integrate.

As a reporting tool using Layer X needs to improve. (Layer X is not anymore as partner)

Integrating ScienceLogic SL1

I really like this monitoring tool, as it is really versatile, and not difficult to use. Also, all documentation and trainings provided help to knowledge the platform and to be easier to use.

Any of this integration was smooth. It would be good to have PowerPacks created for them. Cisco-ISE is a wide known product.

We use to investigate the API, and try the integration with this.
To be more efficiency with API queries, as some platform like Cisco CUCM get stucks with too many Tomcat queries. It is a bug in CUCM, but ScienceLogic should be more efficiency.
