Overall Satisfaction with Sage Intacct

We chose Sage for our accounting and reporting system mainly due to the ability of it to scale with our growth. We utilize it for accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and management reporting across all functions within the organization. It allows us to have constant information available to the team, as well as provides a great deal of flexibility as we continue to grow and shape our company from start-up to where we are now as a still quickly growing company. It also allows instant access for all users wherever we have an internet connection, which is critical for our teams in different locations and working remote.

Pros

  • The software is very intuitive and has allowed even inexperienced users of accounting software to be quickly trained and operating in the system quickly.
  • Sage provides flexibility as a cloud-based software for our entire team to operate efficiently in different locations.
  • Sage also has allowed the company much easier reporting at the subsidiary and parent level, which was an issue with our previous QuickBooks software.

Cons

  • The dashboard has been more challenging than expected and requires additional training, which we didn't anticipate when purchasing the software.
  • It has had a significant impact on how we run as an accounting team and the reporting capabilities, allowing seamless access, reporting, and data entry, AP, and AR.
  • It has also allowed us to be free of any IT consulting or internal need since the software does not require an IT team to set up and update at our company level.
  • Sage has been a huge asset as we grow and further change and define our reporting and structure. The flexibility of the software has been key to our success of tracking and reporting at both the subsidiary and parent level.
As a start-up, the cost of a system was very important to us, while also being able to grow as the company grows and not be a system we would have to replace as we got larger. Sage Intacct compared nicely to SAP Business One head to head and ultimately checked every box we had for a new accounting system.
I have recommended Sage Intacct to a number of individuals that are looking for new accounting software. These companies are service-based companies, which is a great fit for the software. I believe manufacturing or inventory based companies would struggle in this software based on my use since it isn't geared for those types of companies.

COVID-19 Updates & Changes

I have done a large number of software implementations over the years, and Sage Intacct was by far the easiest and quickest implementation I have ever been part of. It was well planned and executed in 30 days with no issues from the time we went live until now. This was all done when I was the only individual in the finance and accounting group and was able to be done while I also did my day to day functions.
