Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Software is used in the whole organization.
We use it for lead generation with online seminars and customer trainings.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Nice look and feel
Easy to manage webinars
Usability is good

Cons

The software is full of bugs. Video or sound is lost during the webinar. 10-20% of webinar attendees have this kind of problem. Screen sharing is a matter of luck. PowerPoints are not updated if you upload a newer version. Delay between sound and video. It doesn't work well with all browsers.
Discussions during the webinar make no sense because of sound delays..
ON24 is based on Flash Player. Flash is not allowed in several safety critical business areas.
Functionality which seems to exist is not available e.g cutting of recordings.
PowerPoint animations are not always working.
The PowerPoint notes are not formatable, the fontsize is not changeable which makes it hard to use.
The switch to screen sharing takes a lot of time. Sometimes several minutes.

Reliability and Availability

In my experience 10-20% of the attendees have issues following the webinar because of no pictures, freezing pictures, the slide change is not visible or sound problems.

Return on Investment

I see no positive impact.
We have less registrations for our webinars after the use of on24 but I can not really say that it is because of On24 or because the topics we discussed in our webinars.

Alternatives Considered

gotowebex

On 24 has a better usability and a better look and feel. You don't have to download an application to use on24.

Likelihood to Recommend

The software is simply too buggy. I never know if it will work during a webinar or not. I can not recommend it. I cannot see any scenario where it is well suited.
