Overall Satisfaction with monday.com
we have been using monday.com for the last 3 years. We were using Google Sheets to track projects before. I have always described it as a beautiful/elevated sheet with automation that you can build tailored to how you would like to use it and have referred friends who own small businesses to use it. We use monday.com to track project retainers, ad hoc tasks, project-based website builds, etc. We particularly benefit from the guest user feature and time tracking feature that allow us to be transparent with our clients as to how we're tracking progress and whether or not we need more time to complete projects post-project estimation. We also use it to store every single type of document. Either internal team or clients, we encourage all stakeholders to upload it on monday.com so we only have 1 platform where we could find anything. It is good that documents can be uploaded on a column or through an update and everyone can post a comment against it and read the whole document within monday.com. This keeps everyone updated and not rummaging through comms channels which is usually a waste of time. Automations are very useful as well. We have banked on using automated notifications every time a task needs review or feedback from our clients. The only thing we still don't have on monday.com is the ability to notify clients if they only have 75% left of their monthly retainer hours with our team. Some of our clients have requested notifications regarding progress based on percentage and I don't think that is doable on monday unless there is a power user way of doing it that I am not aware of.
Pros
- Automations
- multiple ways of uploading documents
- time tracking and formula column
Cons
- progress percentage notification
- custom automation help/support
- easier project estimations
- better visibility on staff/resource time
no downtime experience so far but the loss of time tracking totals was a surprise and we found out one day that we need to use the formula column to see totals. We have so many boards that we needed to update and that was a pain
