Must-have tool for collaboration in hybrid or remote environments
Overall Satisfaction with Miro
We use Miro to run collaborative sessions for a variety of reasons from alignment meetings to decision-making workshops and readouts. It helps teams connect and work asynchronously across time zones, which is important given our organization size and globally distributed team. Miro also helps us visualize complex topics, work together in real time, and keep everyone on the same.
Pros
- easy to learn for new users
- handles a lot of data without breaking down
- keeps adding interesting features
Cons
- Still not seeing good use of AI
- Managing boards and spaces is difficult in large organizations
- While new features are great, it's becoming quite complex to navigate
- team collaboration
- team satisfaction
- project delivery
The features I use the most are templates, voting, Kanban-style cards, comments, the hide/show board functionality, and timers. Templates help speed up preparing for standard workshops such as retros. Voting is great for driving decisions with large teams. I use expandable Kanban cards to map data visually on tables and journeys, and add additional information inside the card. Comments are great for async feedback. Lastly, I love the ability to hide and reveal boards to keep participants focused.
Outside of workshops, Miro hasn’t replaced any tools in my stack. It’s great at what it does, but I still rely on other tools for things like documentation, task management, and communication. That said, I’ve started using Miro more often to design and update project plans. It’s especially useful in the early planning stages when things are still fluid and benefit from a more visual, collaborative format before moving into more rigid tools.
