Our preferred collaboration service
Overall Satisfaction with Miro
We use Miro internally and with client organizations to share project timelines, collect and present qualitative data, and collaborate on research analysis. We find that having a single board to visualize all the different facets of our project makes it easy for us to come together and locate the current tasks. We have used it on site at client offices as well to run ideation workshops and share findings from user research.
Pros
- Simplifying workflows that typically involve multiple documents by laying all elements out visually on one surface.
- Making dot voting and other workshop activities easy to execute by providing clear directions on screen.
- Providing a very large space for when stickies start numbering in the hundreds.
Cons
- Support for Japanese text is lacking needs to improve. Sticky notes below a certain character threshold do not have their text automatically resized to fill the note, causing legibility issues.
- I feel the generative AI features are attempting to do my work for me, not help me do my own work myself. I've yet to encounter a Gen AI function that didn't just lengthen the amount of time a task required.
- I can't see a way for more than one facilitator to access admin functions like showing/hiding frames, changing music, starting the timer, etc.
It allows us to do processes that we wouldn't normally be able to do. It is simply not feasible for us to hold workshops or organize project elements on a physical whiteboard, in the same room with our clients. Being able to do this remotely opens up new design methods and processes, and allows us to quickly unify our goals and expectations by allowing simultaneous collaboration.
Miro was the preferred choice among our team and client. The client was already accustomed to using it, and so it was an easy sell to them. My team preferred Miro over FigJam because of the more functional interface - we feel that FigJam is too simple for its own good, and it also doesn't perform as quickly for us as Miro.
