Overall Satisfaction with Miro
As an engineering leader who works remotely daily, having a collaboration tool with the ability to share and document items is essential for me and my peers. A picture paints a thousand words; instead of having wordy descriptions that document a task description or workflow connections, having a diagram where you could share, collaborate, and adjust visually helps bring the idea across. You are not confined to only a vertical canvas but also a horizontal view where people can correlate with confidence and follow the flow more naturally.
Pros
- Visual hints or clues for readers to follow.
- Real time sharing and collaboration.
- Comments and annotations that helps with illustrations.
- Simple browser interactions.
Cons
- The use of arrows and annotations could be more flexible; Especially when I want multiple arrows coming out from a single element/box.
- Quick read is made possible.
- Complex documentation could become simple depending on your flow.
- Linking the Miro diagram to JIRA could be challenging when not all of your audience is licensed.
Within the team setup, it is great. Pairing a good sketching input device is awesome, but knowingly, not everybody has the same setup. Therefore, it could be challenging for some people. Instead of brainstorming verbally, people are more comfortable drawing boxes and having quick sketches to get their ideas across.
Miro suits more typical, day-to-day users who do not necessarily care about being pixel-perfect for visual signoffs and approvals. Great for engineers and non-engineers, product person who needs to whip up a quick sketch.
