Overall Satisfaction with Miro

I believe several departments use Miro. I am part of the service design team and we use it a lot for all of the steps of our work. I personally use for personal organization, for collaboration, and sometimes even for presentations - though recently we've been preferring PowerPoint because it's easier to share an editable version with the rest of the company. I also use for mapping user journeys, service blueprints, for priorization, moodboards, drafts and so on. Sometimes I also use it as a Kanban.

Pros

  • i like the pre-made canvas of miroverse and all the other built -in solutions, like being able to get emojis , wireframes, icons etc directly from Miro.
  • endless boards
  • i like that it allows me to organize frames into presentations (the workshop set up is interesting, but i haven't used it enough yet)
  • tagging post-its
  • copying styles

Cons

  • editing and aligning - Miro is great for mapping journeys, however when we need to edit a large amount of information it gets really annoying. eg. connection lines go everywhere, alignments gets messed up. it would be great to have some sort of editable components that when you edit one, we edit all of them.
  • connection lines - when you need a line not to be connected with one of the connection points is annoying.
  • alignment and spacing in general - when building user journeys we use a lot of columns and i wish there was a smarter way of doing it. maybe by improving the table tool, that's also not so useful.
  • i used MURAL in another company, and their tools for organizing post-its had a few more options, like organizing it all in one column, or one line... and that would be great to have in Miro as well.
  • improves collaboration
it's integrated with Slack. it's nice to receive notifications, but not super valuable to me.
a lot. we have people collaborating remotely in all different parts of the country and that wouldn't be possible without Miro.

Miro helps to create a shared database and a common place to work I've used it in workshops, or to share a moodboard with the team and have others to collaborate on it. I find Miro very accessible in general, so ppl with low design knowledge can use it (although hsome people in other departments do get scared with Miro endless boards sometimes)

Do you think Miro delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Miro's feature set?

Yes

Did Miro live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Miro go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Miro again?

Yes

It's been 2 and a half years since i last used MURAL, so i don't remember much (and it has probably evolved since). but i remember finding Miro lighter and more friendly. there was only when tool that i missed and i still miss that i have mentioned previously (regarding the alignment of post-its).
i really like Miro, and i even use it outside of my main job. i used to use Miro for everything from getting my ideas organized to making presentations... but recently i've switched back to using ppt and other design tool because of the convenience of sharing and also because they have a little bit more of graphic design resources. (ppt is terrible, but still...) also, for user journey mapping i've been considering trying other tools that are more efficient in the graphic design aspects.
