Overall Satisfaction with Grammarly

Grammarly helps me write copy. I write web pages, sales pages, email copy, blogs, LinkedIn posts, etc. Grammarly helps me make sure my writing is as clear as possible and offers suggestions for how to make my writing better. It also helps me modify my tone and write in a way that speaks to the audience I'm writing to

Pros

  • Grammar suggestions. Grammarly is very good at identifying grammar mistakes and typos and fixing them for me
  • Writing analysis. I love the analysis of my writing that scores me based on how concise and clear I am
  • Tone adjustments. Grammarly is very good at identifying specific tones and offering alternatives that help make the ton sound better

Cons

  • Some grammar suggestions are too strictly enforced. Sometimes you need to break the rules for a certain tone and it's annoying when Grammarly makes deliberate grammar choices as incorrect
  • The Chrome extension widget can be a little annoying sometimes. I don't like that there are only a few places on the screen where you can anchor it, I want to be able to move it anywhere since sometimes it obstructs my view
  • Sounds too formal sometimes. Grammarly's AI suggestions make my writing overly stiff and formal sometimes
  • Brand image - Grammarly catches embarassing typos
  • Brand consistency - Grammarly's tone helps make sure my writing is always professional
  • Saved time - Grammarly's AI suggestions save me time from writing and rewriting sentences again and again till it sounds right
Grammarly has great usability. It's intuitive and clean and it's easy to understand how to use the tool. When using the extension, I like the colour-coding of specific writing issues which makes it really easy to identify where the writing fell short. The only shortcoming is that the extension widget can be obtrusive at times
Grammarly is easy to use and I like its suggestions. Other AI tools are better for generating text, but Grammarly is better at optimizing it and catching grammar mistakes. I also like that it has the extension which makes it easy to use Grammarly anywhere without having to sign in to a separate window

Grammarly is great for most professional writing scenarios. Replying to emails and messages, writing blog posts, writing academic papers, writing webcopy, etc. I would not use Grammarly for writing fiction since the focus on grammar sometimes takes away from creative choices. You should also not use Grammarly when writing poetry for the same reason
