I Mainly use Tableau Desktop for my data analysis work. It can connect with various data sources like excel, text files, relational data bases, cloud based data sources like salesforce, google analytics etc. Tableau Desktop helps to create dashboards, predictive modelling, functional data analysis in my profession. I think it has high scope in near future since its continuously building and updating the software with modern days requirements.

Tableau Desktop is great when u apply it for creating dashboards, business forecasting, monthly sales and profit analysis etc. Tableau Desktop build-in features is best to create interactive dashboards. However it sometimes can be slow responding while using large data sets. Its less usable for real time operational dashboards, heavy machine learning works, integration with kpis etc.

I use Tableau Desktop every day and daily basis. I built business and analytics dashboards and analysis with the tool. It visualises my analysis and allows users to help themself for access data. Scope is large, data needs are cross country and and to end. We use ready made sources but also process data straight in Tableau.

Likelihood to Recommend

Wells suited for dashboards with moderate amount of data. Live connection is not actually that live - one needs to pay more attention to this because it created misunderstandings. It's great in visualisimg simple data stuff - creating funnels and more special views is hard- maybe could add feature here. Also would like to see AI suggest me charts.

I use Tableau to analyze the asset data of our clients to manage the inventory lifecycles and monitor hardware and software usage. Tableau helps in generating reports with live data and has improved decision making. I mainly have to make sure that the assets are covered and user we assign permission has the right one which can be identified with its interactive dashboards.

I find Tableau useful to analyze and creation of creation of reports easy for daily analysis like the utilization of assets. It also helps find insights like how much assets of a client are going to expire and has to be renews in next 90 days. However, it could become difficult and complex for new joiners to configure the data refresh.

I work in market intelligence and Tableau has solved our problem of data visualization. We use it to create diverse understanding of available data and generate clear view of our sales numbers. It helps us create dashboards to avoid rework on slides and allows us to connect different databases to prepare actionable view of data.

Tableau is well suited when you need to combine databases to generate dashboards and your data is available on different servers. However, Tableau lacks its functionality when manual data entry is required.

I use it to create Business reporting on top of (mainly) Snowflake tables. The reports are showcasing the both the content on our side and also user behaviour in the form of graphs & tables. Stakeholders are on the business side but also in the product end of things. Tha main calculations & aggregations are usually done in DBT to avoid too large data extracts in Tableau Desktop but some simple(ish) calculations are also done in Tableau Desktop.

When ever the aggregations/measures are already done with DBT / Databricks or similar in advance, Tableau Desktop will be very efficient in showing the figures and giving some filtering options. If the datasource is massive and a lot of aggregated calculations would be needed combined with a lot of filtering hopes and dreams, Tableau Desktop can get really slow and heavy to use.

We use Tableau Desktop to setup our ETL processes for transforming, extracting, and loading our data from different data sources into one master data source. Tableau Desktop is also very useful for visualizations and reporting purposes. They have interactive charts and graphs that are user friendly and non-technical users have been able to utilize the platform effectively.

Tableau Desktop is well-suited for security reasons and if users are going to want to use the platform on their computer as an application. If users are not going to be using it on a regular basis or security isn't as much of an issue, or they do not need all of the capabilities of desktop, than the web version is just fine.

We use Tableau Desktop as an application that presents statistics. The first advantage is that you can group different sources of statistics in one place. The second is that there is a lot of customization. We increased our use of Tableau Desktop after migrating to GA4. GA4 stopped meeting our needs. All departments are stakeholders, but only the BI department actually creates and edits reports. I am one of the stakegolders.

The best scenario is definitely to collect data from several sources and create dedicated dashboards for specific recipients. However, I miss the possibility of explaining these reports in more detail. Sometimes, we order a report, and after half a year, we don't remember the meaning of some data (I know it's our fault as an organization, but the tool could force better practices).

It has a wide range of functions and chart types allowing the user the ability to create just about anything they can imagine. It is easy to connect to just about any type of data source and join multiple data sources as well. Easy to schedule automatic data refreshes as well.

We use Tableau Desktop to analyze engagement and ROI for clients, create interactive and aesthetically pleasing custom reports as requested by clients, and to examine various internal queries relating to sales, retention, churn, and lifecycles. Tableau Desktop saves a lot of time and is easier to use than Power BI.

Tableau Desktop is very well suited for presenting data in meaningful and interactive ways. The learning curve is a bit steeper than expected for true beginners, but there is bountiful information available online and in their community. It would be helpful if their eLearning used some more in depth, real world examples of data -- as is, it's too clean and not representative of most databases. They would also benefit from having an archive of use cases so you can learn based on use cases as relevant to your needs as possible. For organizations who don't need to expose interactive dashboards to end users and only need to present static reports, it may be overkill. It would be nice if view-only didn't require a license.
