Synology DiskStation - Robust Product for Everyday Backups!

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We currently have multiple Synology DiskStation's in our environment and have been very happy with them. They are used for general backup with Veeam, Self-hosted IP Camera solutions and general former employee data storage. These devices have become very critical to our day-to-day activities. Both companies I work for have multiple and serve different functions as described above.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Synology DiskStation is responsible to control my NAS which is responsible for the backup of all my computers. DS is specialized for Synology DiskStation and has applications to control the health of each hard drive, automated backup and file management. It allows us to run custom JavaScript applications since we can install docker, node and other applications and software. For that it is worthwhile.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use a Synology DiskStation in our environment as a basic file server for centralized storage for several different departments. Rather than spin up and maintain an expensive file server, the portability and efficiency of a NAS better suits our needs. It is also set up as a part of our 3-2-1 backup plan.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

While more and more products are cloud based nowadays, we also have some technologies that are local to the building, such as access control and camera systems. These need a decent backup solution. Synology DiskStation offers this in the Active Backup for Business software. Furthermore, the support for Docker means we can run a local monitoring solution to notify us in case a service disruption occurs.
