Use Cases and Deployment Scope
We used AppDynamics for application monitoring as it gives us an end to end transactions view. We were able to determine what the customer was doing wrong from their device and we could also see which queries from our end are causing slowness. We received a timely notification before systems degrade. Appdynamics was used to monitor our Flexcube and Bankcollect application from end to end. Database queries were easily analyzed for optimization.
Pros
It is able to dig deep into queries on databases and determine which queries need improvement.
AppDynamics is great in determining customers pain points and we are able to advice customers better most especially on wrong pins.
AppDynamics is able to do server resources analytics and notify team on pending degradation.
Appdynamics assisted our teams in reviewing application codes and optimizing performance. For application like Bankcollect we were able to recommend to vendor which part of the application codes to optimize.
Cons
On database queries, I believe AppDynamics can find tune the queries when it detects its not fine tuned.
Appdynamics team can also review their license structure to make it more affordable
Return on Investment
Turn around time on troubleshooting on transaction failures is greatly reduced, as AppDynamics can easily identify failure points
Revenue has greatly improved as we now have stability
