Pros

  • integrates with our reservation system. We can connect Fareharbor and assign waivers to each group and they populate in the reservation.
  • Smartwaiver collects each guests email address and populates it into our Fareharbor system allowing us to connect w/ each guest that joined us not just the guest who set up the reservation
  • Waiver searching is very simple with Smartwaiver. We can search by name or email and the guests information pulls up for quick search.

Cons

  • We accept the waiver in the office once it's been completed. there is sometimes a 2 step process to "accept" the waiver which can be time consuming when you have 20 to accept.
  • the only issue we have is when we have internet issues, but that's not a smartwaiver issue
  • and you can't fix "stupid" - the Smartwaiver process is super simple but people choose not to read or follow simple instructions

Return on Investment

  • reduction in paper purchasing costs
  • reduction in storage space needed for paper waivers
  • having the waiver on file should a guest come back out in less than 7 days, can be easily confirmed by a quick search in Smartwaiver

Pros

  • Quick, easy and fast to train new employees on.
  • Customers find it easy to do both in the store and online.
  • You can set the waivers to expire in case there is a rule change, or if it has been too long since they signed before.
  • The waivers expire when a minor turns 18 and will let you know that they need to sign again.

Cons

  • Limit to some fields.
  • The YouTube embedding requires you to call support.
  • Requires an internet connection (sometimes the wifi would go out).

Return on Investment

  • No more waivers to store! 7 years of records takes a lot of room.
  • Easy to search! No more digging (huge time/money saver).
  • Fire and forget. We have not needed to adjust our waiver in over a year..... talk about saving on printing costs.

Pros

  • Smartwaiver will help create a waiver for you.
  • Smartwaiver will integrate with your CRM.
  • Smartwaiver customer service is prompt and timely.

Cons

  • Smartwaiver has bulk waiver buying plans and you have to be able to forecast your needs. During the pandemic this was impossible.
  • Smartwaiver allows you to buy waivers in bulk but If you do not use them up after the allotted time you lose them and have to buy again. This subscription model was not made clear to me when I first signed up and we always used our waivers up but during the pandemic we were told that over 80% of our unused waivers had expired and we had to re up. When I explained we were closed for 75% of the year by government order they did give me a 3 month extension but I will still have purchased 50% too many waivers. Seems like there should be a pay-as-you-go option.

Return on Investment

  • Smartwaiver costs about the same as a paper waiver but allows look up of information via search - this alone is worth the investment.
