I use Slack virtually anytime I need to communicate with one of my team members. I will shoot them a quick DM, or I can Huddle them if we need to talk through something vocally or share our screen. I'll often send audio messaged through direct message as well. My company will also post important updates in group channels that are critical for me to see.

Information professionals frequently evaluate mainstream enterprise communication platforms as alternatives to Slack, with Microsoft Teams and Google Chat emerging as primary contenders. The decision for these organizations often hinges on seamless integration with their existing digital ecosystems and established information management workflows. For Information teams, the ability of a communication platform to integrate deeply with document repositories, project management tools, and knowledge bases is a critical factor, influencing the choice between solutions that align with either a Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace environment. This emphasis on ecosystem compatibility underscores the industry's need for tools that enhance, rather than disrupt, existing information architecture and collaborative processes. Both alternatives are considered standard options for general communication and collaboration, as noted by several reviewers.

Both tools, cited by 2 of 10 reviewers, are integrated into daily operations, reflecting their foundational role in managing data, projects, and communication within the industry.
