Shopify Plus is used with a variety of clients in order to satisfy needs that are otherwise locked behind traditional Shopify plans such as Basic, Shopify and Advanced.
For example, it enables us to suggest checkout changes that will heighten a client's brand or alternatively provide better UX for customers present and in the future.
Pros
Access to an otherwise locked checkout
Lower fees for merchants
Enables the full feature set that Shopify has to offer
B2B Support
Cons
Much more focus on quality of life improvements such as navigation duplication
Less restrictive components for Checkout editing.
Updating Liquid to include more filters
Updating the docs to be more developer friendly.

This usually comes down the client's turnover and budget.
Shopify Plus is well suited to a client who really wants to drive sales throughout the website and also into the Checkout flow - a regular Shopify merchant is unable to do this and so it's one of the biggest benefits to upgrading the client to this.
In addition, there's also the added benefit of Priority support and better server allocation for those with more traffic to their site.
We recommend Shopify Plus as the leading pure cloud ecommerce based solution for small and medium and even some large b2c ecommerce businesses. It eliminates the need for companies without large or highly skilled technical teams to manage complex technical activities like hosting, upgrades, security, etc. It provides robust personalization and ecommerce management capabilities.
Pros
User Experience
Personalization
Scalability
Cons
Details of Admin Tool in Marketing
Expand Shopify Pay to Other Countries
More Apps!
Likelihood to Recommend
Excellent for b2c and even some b2b. Excellent for small, medium and even some large ecommerce businesses. Maybe not customizable enough for non standard commerce user experiences (e.g. book clubs).
We run an ecommerce direct to consumer store powered by Shopify Plus. Our entire organization is involved in using Shopify in some form or another, from merchandising to operations fulfillment. We chose Shopify as our partner to run the ecomm side of our business.
Pros
Strong developer API
Good selection of 3rd party plugins/apps.
Popular among other 3rd party services as an integration partner.
Cons
Better API support for discount codes.
Currently no way to add to a user's cart via their API.
Analytics integrations are a little tricky unless they are one of the built-in partners that Shopify supports.
Likelihood to Recommend
If you need a custom implementation or have to connect your ecomm store to your own internal systems, Shopify Plus provides a robust set of APIs and functionality to do this. If you are a small business just doing standard ecommerce, then you probably don't need Plus and can just use regular Shopify. High-volume / large merchants probably want to go with Plus.

Shopify Plus is being used to manage an e-commerce website. It is being used only in my department. Shopify Plus lets you create websites easily by having a drag and drop option. This is great for people that want to create their own business, but do not know how to create a website.
Pros
Creating websites.
Manage websites and being able to update it whenever.
Have great website templates for selling your products.
Cons
Making it easier to code websites for developers for customization.
Implementing more options for users that are unable to code.
Having better user interface and user experience.

Shopify Plus is great for those that want to start their own business. It attempts to make this process as easy as possible. However, in situations where some templates don't have some features, this could lead to more people choosing another software over Shopify Plus, such as Squarespace or Wix.
In addition, Shopify Plus is well suited for those that deal with e-commerce websites. For example, there are agencies that manage websites for clients. Shopify Plus can be a great option for those agencies, so they are able to manage the websites for their clients and preview the appearance of the website, whether it is on mobile or desktop.
We set up Shopify Plus for a large wood flower company. Due to the volume of orders, we went with Shopify Plus in order to handle it. It was easy to spin up a new website, and we could add features as the company grew.
Pros
Expandability was key to the growing business
Large community of plugins and templates
Handled the payment processing, etc.
Cons
Customizing templates can be difficult
Some features required third-party tools

You can begin with Shopify and upgrade as your business scales. And it was able to handle seasonal and holiday spikes.
We use Shopify as the main source for our players to buy game pieces. We needed to have a product that we could customize, had near 100% uptime, and allowed people to choose payment options. Shopify covered all of those, and with Plus, it allows us to use things like Multipass and 1-on-1 attention to make Shopify work for us.
Pros
1-on-1 attention. Our account representative answers all of our questions very quickly.
Multipass. We didn't want people to recreate accounts, just use the Munzee accounts that they currently have.
Giving us information as it's announced e.g. "This new feature may help your account in x, y, z ... "
Cons
Weekly Reviews. If this week was x amount less than last week, work with the client on why.
Recommend new products based on best selling products.
Wish I knew the roadmap of unannounced features. That way when it's announced, I already have a plan.

It's very well suited for making us feel comfortable about our online store. The 24 hour support is great along with the ease of use. We love it!
We are an e-commerce agency, building websites for some of the biggest businesses out there. All of our e-commerce websites use the Shopify platform.
Pros
Well-developed platform
Easy, secure, and fast customer experience
Clean and organized management system for merchants
Cons
More control over code for developers
Likelihood to Recommend
It's the platform of choice for any e-commerce website. Compared to others, such as Magento, it really makes the entire experience easy yet powerful for all people involved from developer, to merchant, to consumer.
