Pimcore: Great Platform for building Enterprise Product Information Management Systems

Pros

  • Pimcore is fully opensource and based on leading Symfony, the leading PHP framework. It has a well-developed partner network and community support.
  • In contrast to other systems that have a quite rigid architecture Pimcore is designed as a platform for developers. It can be used to model complex data architecture with ease and develop features tailored to customer needs.
  • It provides a fully integrated platform for Product Information Management, Digital Asset Management, and Enterprise Content Management. This ensures there is no duplication of assets and content and data across multiple systems.
  • All PIM features are also available through a REST-based Web Service allowing easy integration with other applications.
  • In addition to PIM, DAM and WCM features it also provides a robust eCommerce platform.

Cons

  • Pimcore is not intended to be used as an out of the box system but as a platform. Hence non-technical users take some time to get started with it.

Return on Investment

  • With the customers we have worked with, Pimcore has quite a positive impact on ROI.
  • Pimcore systems have helped customers not only integrate their data but also improved data quality, greatly reduced their time to market and turn around time.
