Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We used NetSuite across the organization. We used the Case Management and Project Management modules were used most.

Pros

Configuration was fast and easy.
User Profiles were especially robust.
Customizing reports, searches and alerts made the workflow processes smooth.

Cons

NetSuite pushes out fixes every Thursday. We would walk in on Friday morning with surprise breaks!
The NetSuite in-house support team is weak. Our customers loved using our company because we were creative and reported solutions quickly.

Likelihood to Recommend

NetSuite is pricey, but very robust. Its Outlook integration was clunky a year or so ago; I quit trying to integrate my emails through Outlook with NetSuite. Not sure if it has improved any.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

In addition to being used in house, we also have a number of clients set up on NetSuite as well. By using the product in both locations, we are able assist clients in their daily usage; can be outsourced to clients to work on their systems on a daily basis, and we can work either at the client site or elsewhere, due to the cloud nature of the product.

Pros

The ability to prepare financial statements for multiple locations and departments
The transaction history capability - looking back to see what has been recorded with a particular vendor or customer
The ability to customize reports to tailor them to your needs

Cons

The interaction between the Fixed Assets Module and NetSuite is not the easiest to maneuver
Trying to determine the GL impact of certain transactions can be cumbersome at times

Likelihood to Recommend

I look at the amount of transactions that are being processed. Does the client has multiple locations or product lines that they want to track? How many users they are looking at? Do they have sales and inventory that they want to track? What is their volume of business and sales in any given year? What they are expecting in growth over the next 3-5 years?

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

NetSuite is used across the whole organization. It is our ERP system for all the accounting and reporting as well as time reporting, expense reporting and project reporting.

Pros

Advanced projects - works well to manage project reporting and comparisons to budgets
Recurring revenue once set up is a tremendous time saver and helps to ensure completeness of revenue
Consolidations and consolidated analysis is super easy

Cons

Canadian sales tax on expense reports. Have to manually override when tax is not calculated exactly with the % charged.
Making changes to recurring revenue is difficult.
Changing departments as the business evolves is difficult depending if you want the history to move or not.

Likelihood to Recommend

For businesses that have recurring revenue, it is really great (i.e. software) and [it is great for] project work/professional services. Consolidations are really easy as well. For companies with a lot of employees that need to access the time reporting and expense reporting it would end up being very costly.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

NetSuite is used by our accounting department, of course, but also by our executive team for financial reporting.

Pros

The software is in the Cloud, so there is no need for inhouse IT support
It allows for all of your processes to become paperless
Workflows are easily customized to your organization
They have great training classes, and a good implementation team is assigned to you until startup

Cons

Although NetSuite is HIGHLY customizable, it is not as EASY as it is professed to be. If your company has a project manager or developer dedicated to the implementation and customization, it is great, but not all midsized companies have that dedicated personnel.
There seems to be a high turnover in account management.
Customer support is sometimes difficult - I recommend the Gold level.

There is a cost involved. Make sure your company NEEDS the robustness of the product.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use NetSuite to run our finance function. We also use it to support the HR, and recruiting functions.

Pros

NetSuite proved to be the best tool to use when our finance function is spread geographically. It was really easy to implement, we didn't have to build any complex hosting solution or new servers.
It's very easy to scale with NetSuite. As our organization continues to grow, we can add module that improve the accuracy and relevance of our financial records. NetSuite also continues to develop their product, which makes me think that the product we will use over the years will continue to get better.

Cons

I can't pinpoint to any specific example that are general in nature. There are minor annoyances here and there, but they come with all computer software.

Likelihood to Recommend

It's a great solution for growing business that are entering "mid-size" category. Startups can save a lot of costs by sticking with simple solutions like QuickBooks. And large public companies maybe best served in more traditional SAP/Oracle environments.
