Our organization uses Namely for all our HR and payroll needs. This product addresses our business needs more than our previous provider by being more user friendly and having a more robust HR platform all in one system. The feed is especially useful for performance shoutouts and internal updates. There are some pieces that I feel do not live up to our previous provider, but there are also aspects that Namely has that are more beneficial than our previous provider. Overall,
our employees enjoy Namely as users, and HR sees improvements with their side,
but the payroll side could have a few more options to make the system better.
Pros
Prorations for salaried employees based on start dates
A feed for shoutouts, promotions, terminations, new hires, birthdays, and anniversaries
Automatic state and local taxes added based on employee address (a big plus for Ohio, Pennsylvania, Indiana)
Cons
Limits to custom reporting
No direct feed for Ohio Workers Comp (now a manual process on our end)
No option to place an employee on Leave of Absence and exclude them from payroll while they are "inactive"
No option to suppress certain deductions for certain pay types (i.e. allow 401K for commissions but block remaining deductions - also now a manual process to uncheck the suppress box for 401K for each commission check)
Likelihood to Recommend
Namely is nice because it has everything all in one place: performance, applicant tracking through Greenhouse, payroll, time off, hourly timesheets, and benefits. From the payroll side, Namely is especially helpful for remote employers who have employees in multiple states, especially Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Indiana. Namely will automatically update the payroll profile of the employee with the state and local tax for the work or home location, whichever the employer chooses. I have found a few mistakes with the local tax being assigned not matching the Ohio Tax Finder, but for the most part, it is accurate. It is also helpful that we can create multiple payrolls for multiple periods and they are included in the overall fee.

We use Namely for our HR, payroll and benefits applications. Namely security set up allowed us to document our SOX controls smoothly this past year when we went public. Security setting for our preparer and reviewing on the HR and payroll user functionally worked well when building out our SOX controls.
Pros
Processes our RSU stock payrolls
Custom built HR work flows
Custom reports to third parties through FSTP
Cons
360 integration with third parties (401k, benefits)
More robust custom reporting tools
Likelihood to Recommend
Namely is perfect for our small size company. It provided us a simplified way to manage our benefits, payroll and HR through custom workflows. These workflows flow through to payroll and auto adjust salary for our payroll team which simplifies our SOX controls. Namely support team also processes our RSU payments for our payroll team.

Our organization uses Namely as an HRIS. We are able to manage payroll and benefits through this product. Employees can access their year end documents like W2s, etc, update their personal information and retrieve paystubs.
Pros
The product is really easy to use.
The benefits wizard is very user friendly.
Cons
The tax feature through Manage Payroll is really difficult to navigate, especially when you have multiple places you have to register your organization with a remote workforce.
The ticketing system is incredibly confusing. Its hard to find historical conversations. The tickets are closed if you don't respond within 5 business days and you have to reopen an entire new case, filling everything out.

When we joined Namely, our team was at 49 employees. In the last year we have grown to 100 employees and I feel that we have outgrown them. When we were smaller this product was perfect for our team.

I use Namely to process the payroll for our company. We are a semi-monthly company with both salaried and hourly employees. We are in multiple different states, with most of our employees working remotely. It addresses those needs pertaining to different state taxes and required reporting. It is very simple to set up, edit, or adjust all those elements, which saves me a ton of time. I would recommend this product for ease on the user end for both myself and my employees. We have limited employee self-service, which is also a time saver for myself and our HR department.
Pros
Multi state taxes.
Reporting
Hours tracking.
Customer Service.
Cons
Ability to enter more then 3 permanent earning codes.
More enhanced filter capability in reporting.
Ability to enter earnings codes instead of Namely having to do it.

I had never heard of Namely prior to coming to this company. But was quite surprised at how user-friendly it is. Customer service is top-notch. I rarely have to wait for answers to inquiries or issues. If I call pertaining to how to do something, they always have detailed instructions on the process. You also have the ability to create cases for those items that are not time-sensitive. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff.
This software tool is used as an in-house human resource repository for information and access to work and personal documentation.
Pros
Requesting time-off.
W2 forms and tax documents.
Health benefits description and support.
Sick days and holiday accounts.
Cons
Provide an online chat access.
Re-format the main menu.
Provide tutorials.

Since the pandemic disruption, we lost our business office and access to the convenience of having an HR department for personal and professional needs. Namely became a convenient solution that could be accessed from a home desktop computer.
Payroll, HR functions. It's nice that employees have access to it but other than that to me it seems like a rushed program with no support. I feel like it's always out of sync when updating profiles. For me, it's hard to make changes. I feel like I spent nearly 80 hours on the phone (or waiting in queue) in the 2 years with them. Customer service can be great at times. In my opinion, it's not their fault the product is subpar.
Pros
Not
A
Thing in my opinion
Cons
In my opinion, every area especially HRIS and Payroll and ThinkHR syncing correctly.
I believe the interface is a mystery to most people.
Terminated employees have trouble accessing.

I feel I'd rather not waste any more time talking about how Namely is bad because I feel like I have wasted so much time using Namely.
We used Namely for a variety of human resource tasks, including payroll, open enrollment, organization charts, and even coworker birthdays and work anniversaries. Every 2 weeks, I would receive my paycheck stubs in Namely. Every year, I would complete my open enrollment on Namely. And of course, we used it to see when our coworkers had upcoming birthdays so that we could do something to celebrate!
Pros
The best thing about Namely is that it’s extremely user-friendly. Compared to other HR software like Workday, it’s much easier to use.
Enrolling in my benefits has never been easier.
Notifications for coworkers' birthdays are great.
Requesting time off is easy to do on Namely.
Cons
From my side as a user, I have no complaints. However, my company switched to Workday (which I don’t like as much) because it offered some additional flexibility for the administrators.
Likelihood to Recommend
Namely offers an all-in-one human resource software package that outperforms industry-standard tools like Workday, particularly in terms of its excellent design and usability. I think it is best used for small to medium-sized companies — at my company, it was administered by just one person. I think that at a larger company with more complex needs, you might need the additional flexibility provided by an alternative like Workday.

Namely has been used as a tool of employee management. It has been used by our HR and finance departments. HR info was saved in Namely. All the changes related to HR are addressed by Namely.
Pros
Sending out notifications to related parties for all the changes in Namely.
Timely: The notifications are sent out to the related parties quickly once HR completes the changes.
Avoids human errors when sending notifications via email.
User friendly; less training needed.
Cons
The system [was] slow sometimes.
Some reports can be designed for facility users such as weekly/monthly changes reports.
Likelihood to Recommend
I would recommend that colleagues check info from Namely. The system is user-friendly [and] efficient.

Amazing experience with Namely! The user-friendliness of the product, customer support team, and features for HR/Finance/Reporting is second to none. The account managers are also diligent, responsive and are always there to solve any problem with great solutions at the drop of a hat. Highly recommend the product and service!
Pros
Customer Support.
Reporting
User Friendliness - Ease of Navigation.
Cons
More drop down options for reporting (inactive, active employees etc).
Reporting and working on reports in the system v.s. downloading and using in Excel.
More analytics and featured dashboards to slice and dice the data.
Likelihood to Recommend
Well-Suited: Benefit set-up and enrollment. Reporting and analytic functions. HRIS and user friendliness of using and entering data.
Less Well-Suited: Payroll is an area I'd love to jump into more and understand the capabilities. Performance Management could have more/better features to robustly use the system, capture real-time feedback and also use for setting objectives. Namely functions better as a general HRIS v.s. a performance management platform at this stage (in my opinion), but has lots of potential.

Our organization uses Namely to run most of our HR functions including payroll, performance, PTO, etc. We also use it for appreciation and internal social networking. We have about 50 users. For our small business, it is an "all-in-one" HR solution. I personally use it to manage my small team, including quarterly goal setting and tracking, etc.
Pros
Payroll seems to work pretty flawlessly.
The social networking function is solid and easy to use.
Cons
The user experience, particularly for PTO and performance management could use a lot of improvement. It is just fundamentally awkward, easy to get lost, etc.
Likelihood to Recommend
I think Namely is generally a solid solution for small companies. I am not sure how well it scales—some of the UI/navigation problems I have noticed are likely to be even more problematic at a larger organization. It works very well to manage payroll and basic employee details. The social networking component is also well done. The most problematic is performance/goal tracking. They have the right idea, it is just clunky, and we've started tracking this outside of Namely because it is just easier that way.
