TalentReef is our ATS (applicant tracking system) so we use it to manage our open positions and candidate flow, which goes through to onboarding as well.

Pros

  • Easy to understand/user interface.
  • Integrates with other system.
  • Administrative support.

Cons

  • The system is not very flexible.
  • Customer service on the candidate end can take awhile.
  • Some of their updates are not fully flushed out.

Likelihood to Recommend

This system is good for our end-user, busy fast food General Managers. For them, it is easy and user-friendly. On the administration end, I wish that I had more ability to manipulate the back end and that it was more sophisticated.

TalentReef is currently being used as the portal for all of our current applicants go thru. Then we use the system to track their progress to on boarding or release. The program is well thought out and quite easy to use. The customer service that TalentReef has on staff are also quite helpful and usually resolve any questions or assistance within a day.

Pros

  • The layout and navigation thru the program are very easy to use and learn
  • I like that I can easily find the applicants I am looking for and track them easily.
  • The overall appearance of the screens are very easy to read, use and navigate.

Cons

  • Learning how to 'bypass' any one candidate was challenging at first. Once learned it is now very easy.
  • Some of the features and benefits in the program a re still hidden and I am constantly learning new things about the program. I would like a full tutorial that should be a good 30 min long covering not only the high points, but the hidden functions too.
  • I have literally taught myself how to use this product. Now that I have more than just the basics, I find it easy, but initially it was frustrating. So a learning tutorial or online customer service chat could be very helpful.

Likelihood to Recommend

I rarely give 10/10, mainly because I have learned that that we can always learn new things and to grow. Thus, I feel that same applies to Talent Reef. While I struggled a bit in the beginning to use this application, It is probably that struggle that has made me a better user for being so persistent at using it. Now that I have more than just the basics I think for any size company the functionality of the program will work for them.

We use talentReef primarily for hiring and HR software for our full-service restaurant locations. It is an excellent platform for a small business to manage online applications, stay compliant with required documentation, and recruit new talent. Before we utilized talentReef we used paper applications which led to sporadic results. When we opened our second location we knew we needed a better way to receive, review, and hire staff.

Pros

  • Application management.
  • Integration with existing website.

Cons

  • Best used by a HR professional to navigate intricacies.
  • Can be cumbersome at times trying to sort applicants.

Likelihood to Recommend

talentReef is good for small and large businesses. I have experienced that unless you have a HR director or Coordinator that it is more of a challenge to get the full benefits out of the software. It does require time to set up and maintain, but overall the time savings from paper applications and onboarding is substantial.

TalentReef is being utilized for our ATS/Onboarding System within our organization. This was introduced to the company as it was sold as a better alternative to our previous solution (SnagAJob) and that it would provide us with a better applicant flow, and an easier way for us to onboard applicants.

Pros

  • Applicants can apply on a customized website
  • Onboarding documentation can be done electronically

Cons

  • Applicant flow is terrible. You can post jobs on Indeed for free, and receive a better applicant flow than posting through TalentReef. TalentReef was unable to provide any reasoning for this to happen
  • If you want to change/edit your onboarding documents, you need to e-mail them to support. This can sometimes take more than 48 hours to accomplish, and more often than not, was not done as requested
  • Customer Support is terrible. When they respond to you, they do not answer the question fully or provide any alternative solutions
  • Pricing is very high. There are numerous other alternatives in the market that provide better services for half the price

Likelihood to Recommend

If you are completely on paper right now, and cost is not an option, TalentReef may be a solution to you. If you are looking for strong customer support and results, look elsewhere

Thankful for talentReef ATS/Onboarding systems!

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are currently using the ATS and Onboarding features for applicants and new hires for all of our markets. We have market recruiters and training managers who use the system on a daily basis. We also have a few satellite locations where the manager uses talentReef for the same purpose. Having the Onboarding feature has eliminated our managers' need to sit with new hires to give them forms to complete. From the Onboarding information, each day we export new hire data from talentReef and import it into our HRIS/Payroll system. Being able to do so eliminates 90% of the manual entry of new hires into our HRIS/Payroll system. There are still a few fields that must be managed manually though.

Pros

  • We've been with talentReef nearly 2 years and our last 2 account managers have been great! Support was a concern right after we converted, but we were able to gain an account rep and began weekly calls until all the holes were plugged in.
  • Linking ATS data and onboarding data eliminates the need for the applicant/new hire to enter the same information twice.
  • We're now receiving system emails regarding upcoming new releases, which is helpful.

Cons

  • The system is pretty cumbersome compared to the several ATS and HRIS systems I've used in the past. You don't always know where to look to find an employee's information (application, boarding forms, I-9, etc.). You'd think once they're hired and onboarded, all their information would be housed together in the same place. Also, there are 2 search areas, one for applicants and one for other fields. For candidates who apply for multiple locations, you have to release them individually from each location. Our recruiters don't do this, so we have over 1000 active applicants when we shouldn't. It would be better if there was only 1 applicant record then the various locations listed within that 1 record.
  • When assigning a posting for multiple locations, you have to go in and manually change the "manager" assigned to each posting. We have 32 locations, so this is very time consuming. Why can't you assign the manager at the same time you're creating the posting?
  • I've been wanting to launch the Engagement module with warnings and performance evaluations. I've spent hours setting up the different templates, but once you do that you cannot revise your form. You have to delete and start over. In addition, I discovered (through a test account) that once you submit an warning or evaluation to an employee, you cannot go in to delete it or revise it. I don't understand why forms would be set up that cannot be revised. Due to this, this project is on hold for our whole company.

talentReef is used as an applicant tracking system and is part of the on-boarding process for the entire company; hourly and management. Having a system with all hiring information on one place has greatly simplified the hiring process for our management teams.

Pros

  • Ability to customize the application for individual positions.
  • Ability to create customized assessments for each position.
  • Allows the managers in each location to complete hiring paperwork in one platform for consistency.

Cons

  • The system is a very rich website which does cause problems loading the platform when an applicant or location does not have the absolute best internet service.
  • Sometimes people are not as tech savvy as the general public believes which causes issues with the applicant's access to the platform. talentReef is and has worked towards making support access more available to the applicant.

Likelihood to Recommend

I have worked with talentReef for a number of years now and have found the platform very easy to navigate. talentReef is always working to enhance their offerings on the platform which is greatly appreciated.

The best solution for hiring and on-boarding!!!

talentReef is being used by our HR department to find quality candidates to fill open positions. We also use it for on-boarding for all of our employees. We do not use talentReef for executive positions. We only use talentReef for store personnel.

Pros

  • Cuts down on paperwork; saving both time and money.
  • Streamlines the hiring process
  • Very easy to navigate and extremely user-friendly

Cons

  • Workflow on the online portal could be improved
  • Candidate portal is very user-friendly, but employer portal is a bit more complicated

Likelihood to Recommend

In a high turnover, minimum wage industry (such as the restaurant industry); talentReef is the best solution for finding quality candidates.

I have been using talentReef for a few months now, primarily for ATS/assessments/background check/onboarding. I plan on rolling out other modules in the next several months. It's great to move off of paper and receive applications online. I love that all onboarding paperwork is done online before the new hire even starts. It has freed up a lot of my time as the HR department of one. I also love the fact that the assessment gives me a better understanding of what I can expect from my future hires.

Pros

  • Customer service - VERY responsive!
  • Sales team kept up with me post implementation to make sure everything is going well.

Cons

  • I wish I could set up new positions without getting account support involved. Once they are initially created though, opening and closing reqs is a breeze.
  • There seems to be a disconnect between what talentReef and Indeed are saying about posting jobs on Indeed.

Likelihood to Recommend

TalentReef is well-suited for high volume-hiring, as well as for HR departments looking to move off of paper and onto an easy-to-understand platform. I love the ease of integrated assessments and the background checks.
This will not be suitable for those looking for time & attendance and payroll systems.

talentReef is used by all of the Famous Toastery Corporate stores for employee recruiting and the paperwork side of on-boarding.

Pros

  • As an Administrator of the talentReef system, I have access to all applicants for every store across our system all in one location.
  • It is a one-stop function for virtually all of our new hire paperwork.
  • We have not gone entirely paperless with our employee files, but talentReef would be of great benefit to us if/when we choose to move in that direction.
  • The system is relatively easy to learn for store users with all levels of digital expertise.
  • The cost to the organization is extremely reasonable.

Cons

  • Superior customer service means everything to me -before purchasing the system I read some reviews which said customer service might be lacking with talentReef. While there have been times of frustration, on the whole, they have improved a great deal and seem committed to continual improvement. I have specifically seen improvement in their sense of urgency to correct any issues.
  • The system is not quite as intuitive as I would like it to be. For example, when searching for an applicant by the last name, if one letter is misspelled there are no results, and no suggestions based on what was entered.
  • Some of the forms and processes used (e.g. for adding a new location) are a bit clunky - not horribly so. My hope is some of those can be streamlined going forward.

Likelihood to Recommend

Famous Toastery is a fast-growing chain, and I fully expect talentReef has the qualities and flexibility to grow with us. While talentReef focuses on restaurants, I believe it's capabilities are well-suited for any type of organization.

TalentReef: A Notch Above Its Peers

TalentReef is primarily used by the HR Team and Restaurant General Managers. We use it for applicant tracking, onboarding and performance management. It has addressed several long term issues such as eliminating paper from the application process and paper employee files stored at the restaurant, consolidated multiple vendors under one roof during the hiring process (i.e. background check, MVR screening and WOTC) making the hiring process much more efficient for our users. It has reduced the time it takes to get a new candidate identified and hired while at the same time increasing the caliber of candidate we are hiring.

Pros

  • Throughout the implementation process, TalentReef was very timely (within 24 hours) with their feedback, changes and accommodations to our system set up requests.
  • The onboarding process and conversion to electronic employee folders with web based storage and retrieval has significantly simplified the HR Teams work load.
  • Their applicant flow and applicant quality has made a noticeable improvement in the quality of our team member hiring leading to reduced turnover.

Cons

  • I feel that their team and technology has evolved and grown over my time as a client. I have seen many other systems and I do not seen any areas where I feel Talent Reef is below standard.

Likelihood to Recommend

I believe it is well suited for industries where the following takes place:

  • high volume, hourly employees
  • short application time is important
  • ease of use and intuitive user interface for store managers is important

It may be less appropriate for white collar hiring and hiring that requires a more in depth analysis and candidate review.
