Mattermost helps us with what matters the most

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We started using Mattermost almost 14 months ago and it has changed the way we communicate between teams and departments. It allows us to collaborate in a better way. We are able to find use all the other features for Project Management and linking to GitLab and Jira for development related activities.

Pros

  • Secure Messaging
  • Customized Integration of Uipath APIs

Likelihood to Recommend

We can use Mattermost for effective Project Management. There are multiple channels that one can create for each project. We can share project specific files and also assign tasks to individuals. The Task tracking feature comes in very handy as well. Since we can directly integrate apps like Gitlab, Github and Jenkins, getting multiple developer and Operations Teams to work on a single module is easy.

Easy to use and chat/call internally

Rating: 8 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We used to use Mattermost as a form of team communication and organization. Mattermost is very easy to navigate, everything is self explanatory to use. We primarily used it for chatting internally, teams meetings, discussions and keeping track of different projects.

Pros

  • Easy to use
  • Setting up calls/ meetings
  • Direct messaging
  • Channels to keep track of projects

Cons

  • Sometimes the mobile app would not notify me
  • Glitches with uploading files sometimes

Likelihood to Recommend

I think Mattermost is a great option for a large team. It is easy to send messages, set up a meeting or call internally. It is also great because there are channels you can keep track of different projects with and it is all in once place. However, I did not rate a 10 because even though Mattermost is easy to use, there are sometimes issues with notifications on the mobile app so I do prefer Teams.

Faster Collaboration Better Results

Rating: 9 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use it to collaborate with the new plugin for MS teams. We are using the product for communications with our analytics department. Many of our technicians are out in the field and we can use this tool for secure mobile messaging. We are using AI to predict maintenance schedules for our customers and are able to connect our service to this platform

Pros

  • Collaboration of multiple groups
  • Security
  • Mobility

Cons

  • integration with other software can be tricky
  • audio quality could use refinement

Likelihood to Recommend

It is fast and has reliable notifications that we can send to our technicians out in the field quickly and effectively. It is very easy to use and is a better method to relay field information back to the office instead of using cumbersome group texts and email. Even though its great sometimes a phone call is better than the options in the application.

  • Speed - It's always very fast
  • Ease of Use - very easy to use
  • Notifications - Automatic notifications are key

Cons

  • More tightly integrated video/audio calling capabilities
  • Better integration with other software

Likelihood to Recommend

Mattermost works very well. It is easy to setup and deploy, and maintenance is super easy as well.

Excellent for our internal communication.

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

The most common case for Mattermost is internal communication maintaining privacy correctly, it is also very appropriate for direct communications with videos, we feel that the use is very simple and didactic. It seems that it can be used by a large number of people at the same time without affecting the operation, currently, it is used specifically in 6 departments, the use is increasingly wide thanks to the fact that it passes a simple and friendly user interface for all.

Pros

  • Simple user interface.
  • Good privacy system in conversations.

Cons

  • Personalization can improve a bit more.

Likelihood to Recommend

Mattermost is an internal communication service with simple functions and a system that is safe, appropriate, and easy to implement. Regarding profitability, I can say that it is favorable due to the good price it offers, it has great capacity and, in general terms, the functions are very good considering that at this moment we have excellent internal communication.

A worthy consideration as a self-hosted Slack solution, with some caveats

Rating: 6 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We used Mattermost for a few months as our corporate chat tool to enable cross-regional discussions about work matters.

Pros

  • Self-hosted option
  • Many features on-par with Slack, such as public and private rooms
  • Open API supporting integrations with many services

Cons

  • UI glitches were frequent occurrences
  • Base pricing is competitive with Slack, but enterprise features come at a hefty price
  • Webhooks are cumbersome to set up compared to Slack

Likelihood to Recommend

Mattermost may be most useful in a highly-regulated environment where self-hosting a chat solution is essential. But many cloud providers now offer HIPPA/FIPS-compliant chat solutions so it may no longer be necessary to self-host your own chat solution. Recommend doing your own research to be sure you aren't investing prematurely in a self-hosted option.

Good when you want to own the data and platform. Bad if your users can't accept the cons or if you need automatic server updates or don't have an administrator for the platform.
