Iterable functions as a comprehensive platform for managing and orchestrating customer communications across the entire lifecycle, supporting transactional, marketing, and triggered messaging to various customer segments. In TrustRadius reviews, organizations primarily use it to drive deeply personalized messaging and customer journeys, with its multi-channel capabilities across email, SMS, and push notifications being a significant strength. The platform's data integration is crucial for activating personalization and segmentation.
Reviewers frequently highlight the platform's sophisticated audience segmentation and visual journey creation, alongside a user-friendly interface and responsive customer support. However, some users report challenges with data integration complexity, particularly for real-time input, and limitations in reporting for multi-currency/multi-region data. Despite these areas for improvement, reviewers generally report a positive return on investment, with one user noting a 100% year-over-year increase in retail revenue.
Pros
Sophisticated and fast audience segmentation capabilities
Visual customer journey creation with advanced targeting logic
User-friendly interface for straightforward campaign setup
Responsive and helpful customer support team
Enhanced multi-channel personalization across email, SMS, and push
Cons
Complex data integration and real-time syncing requiring engineering effort
Limited reporting functionality for multi-currency and multi-region data
Drag-and-drop builder generates redundant code and lacks certain features
Challenges with data schema management and updates
Basic platform integrations (e.g., Shopify) compared to competitors
We use Iterable for all of our automated emails and marketing SMS campaigns. It allows us to centralize our campaigns so we can get a cohesive view of the customer journey while monitoring overall performance and run ongoing experiments to drive growth. We're also able to use various integrations to sync data into Iterable and use those data points to better personalize, segment and optimize our journeys. Every member of our lifecycle team uses the platform on a daily basis and overall is a great tool for any company to use to manage their lifecycle comms.
Pros
The platform is very user friendly and has a robust set of tools to enhance your experience.
They have a great set of customer service representatives that you can message in real time (depending on your plan) to get immediate answers and unblock you on any potential issues.
They are continuously gathering feedback from their users on ways to enhance their tool and overall capabilities.
Cons
I'd love to see more SMS capabilities, specifically 1:1 texting.
Although there are multiple ways to sync data into Iterable, a lot of it requires work from engineering teams and I wish there were more accessible ways to set up this real time data into Iterable

Iterable has a lot of channel optimization and targeting capabilities. I believe a lot of companies use Iterable for e-commerce related products, but others may involve outside data analysts to better track all the data points within the customer journey. I believe it is beneficial for anyone who works within lifecycle, product and engineering to learn a marketing automation tool early in their career in order to self serve and advance their skillset.
We use Iterable as our main ESP. We send billions of emails a year ranging from newsletters to lifecycle messages to dynamically triggered messages. We are striving to create more personalized messages and the Iterable catalog, along with an integration with High Touch has helped us connect and activate more data and send better messages.
Pros
Catalog
Super fast segmentation
Clear and easy UI/campaign setup
Customer service
Cons
Limitations with companies that have many brands in a single project
Use of custom event data within handlebar logic
Foldering options for snippets and lists
Likelihood to Recommend
We really like the catalog. We are able to pass out full content graph from all 40+ of our brands and let it live in Iterable. From that we're able to create collections that pull in content based on the brand. taxonomy, publish date, etc. From there we use handlebars within a message to pull in the collection and display automated content in minutes. Rather than relying on editors to hand-pick all of our content we can supplement with automated messages based on recency or trending content. It's been a great addition to our emails!
Iterable is used in my organization as the primary means of transactional, blast, triggered, ad hoc, communication, marketing and messaging to our leads, former members and current customer member base. We use several domains to send from with retail, and in center. Our use case is to provide relevant, timely and personalized information on upcoming products, promotions, information and transactional membership information for our 1 million plus members across the Americas.
Pros
Building emails
Selecting audiences
Creating journies
Highly engaged messaging
Timely and relevant content
Understanding when to send purchase information
Understanding send frequency
Cons
Removing bad emails
Increasing sender reputation
Offloading projects to automation
Minimizing space for cleaning up unsused data
Likelihood to Recommend
Iterable is well suited for creating appealing campaigns and for marketers who aren't well versed in HTML coding to use drag and drop. There are some senarios in which understanding catalogs and identifying audiences are slightly confusing to a beginner marketer. The platform overall caters to a marketer who has a requested need to send a marketing campaign to an audience. Reporting could be more user friendly when creating dashboards for campaigns.
We use Iterable to send out all pre and post sale emails on behalf of our sites.
Pros
User-friendly
Nice content builder
Clean layout
Cons
Doesn't allow email scheduling more than 21 days out
Deliverability support is sub-par
Needs more dynamic image layering options in the creative builder
Likelihood to Recommend
It's a real issue for me that Iterable does not allow scheduling more than 21 days out from a send. That's bizarre to me since most email marketers plan their sends quarters ahead of time. However, I do like their creative builder and platform organization. That mostly gives me what I need and it's fairly user friendly.
We use Iterable as our centralized CRM platform to manage communications with existing customers across channels such as email, push, and in-app messages. Our efforts focus on driving engagement and retention for our various subscription services. Iterable helps us to coordinate and personalize these communication to various user cohorts. Iterable's flexible data model has been incredibly beneficial in empowering our team to do more at a lower cost than some of the other major players in the space.
Pros
Flexible Data Model
Easy to ease UI
Responsive support team
Easy implementation
Superior pricing
They put on great events too!
Cons
For those looking for support outside North America, I think Iterable has some work to do in order to better support the international community.
Iterable can be a bit slower than competitors when adopting the latest iOS and Android features.
Likelihood to Recommend
I think Iterable is well-suited for any company that is looking to quickly get up and running across a variety of CRM channels (email, push, in-app, text, etc.) at a low cost. The quick implementation, flexible data model, and easy-to-use UI make it an ideal fit for leaner teams that are trying to more with limited resources. Iterable's various integrations make it easy to bring data in and out to support various use cases and their subsequent reporting. I think International customers or those specializing in real-time events may not find all their desired features in Iterable, but given Iterable's strong product team, I think they are willing to build-in whatever features have the highest customer demand.
Iterable is well suited for creating and managing drips/triggers for email campaigns. With this comes reporting, which could have some key areas of improvement, but still gives pretty good and obviously the basic insights.
Iterable is also well suited to use for mobile app integration for marketing efforts and tracking.
We use Iterable today to market to our existing customer base. We create journeys and blast campaigns that help navigate our customers from the moment they sign up to the moment they decide to use our resources for their business. Iterable is a great tool to use to build complex journeys that help filter our customers to the right path they need to move in order to have a seamless onboarding and lifecycle.
Pros
Journey creation
Blast campaign creation
Segmentation and filtering
Cons
Segmentation and filtering - the UI is still quite old and there is no way to easily segment using the tool
Workflow functionality - its difficult to know who has gone through a journey
Workflow functionality - I would like to be able to push people out of a specific node on my own
Likelihood to Recommend
Iterable has done well in a lot of aspects and we personally have a great relationship with our CSM and the rest of the customer service team. I think what makes Iterable great is the fact that they are so willing to help and able to bring the products we have in our mind to the Iterable UI. One aspect that we think Iterable can improve on is definitely building out tooling that is comparative to their competitors.
I use the platform to send communications to our users through our owned channels (email, in-app, push notifications), as well as develop user journeys and conduct user segmentation investigations and A/B testing.
Pros
Campaign creation UX.
Segmentation UX.
User journey UX.
Cons
In-app metrics reporting.
Heat map accuracy.
Click metrics in general (differentiating between dismiss vs. clicks on CTA).
Likelihood to Recommend
It is excellent for sending emails as well as setting up triggered user journeys. For example, if I wanted to send a message to users when they complete a challenge in the app, but only users who have their app set to English and are located in the US, I can do so via Journeys very easily. It is not well suited for reporting in-app engagement metrics. The click rate reflects not only clicks on the CTA but also clicks on any dismiss button. I have to manually go into the campaign and download the "In-app Clicks" document in order to determine actual clicks on the CTA. "
We leverage Iterable for customer lifecycle campaigns across multiple clients and lines of business. Our previous solutions were not as robust or intelligent as the solutions provided with Iterable in terms of messaging journeys and ease of use. We are also responsible for managing other teams' projects within the organization and serving as liaisons and subject matter experts for self-serve within the platform.
Pros
Customer lifecycle
Targeting and holdout groups
Ease of data availability and reporting
Cons
Overall UI enhancements to increase customer experience
More robust features when it comes to API key management
Less focus on over-simplifying logic gates and UI
Likelihood to Recommend
We have seen great success in the customer lifecycle campaigns as it pertains to customer retention and the timeliness of the messaging. Leveraging the upcoming AI features will add to this experience and possibly help increase retention and reduce churn. Iterable performs well for the tasks we've used the tool for, but setting up recurring campaigns that leverage an ODBC connection is a feature gap that would help in the speed to market of solutions we use other tools for.
We are using Iterable to email users at different stages of their product journey. We use them to trigger the emails, journeys, and to send batch and blast campaigns. We segment our users and personalize their journeys to be able to reach them using Iterable. We host email templates, audience segmentations, journeys, etc. in Iterable.
Pros
Easy visualization of journeys
Simple segmentations of users
Ability for personalization
Easy modification of templates
Cons
Some of the features are clunky
There are sometimes errors when using the product/things that don't work
Likelihood to Recommend
Iterable is really good for marketers to be able to see journeys and visualize them. It is good for companies with large amounts of segmentation and who want to be able to personalize their user journeys based on their information. It is good for people with limited coding knowledge to also build email templates using drag and drop or limited html.
