Video protection made easy by Gumlet

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Using Gumlet for video hosting of our educational platform with DRM protection. Other features like custom video player, dynamic watermark feature & user tracking gives good overview of whats happening with your content. I got lifetime deal via appsumo so it was great investment overall. Only negative thing i found is Gumlet doesnt have DRM protection in lower end plans. Otherwise it's very best service.

Pros

  • DRM protection for proprietary videos
  • Customised video player
  • Learning management videos support

Cons

  • Pricing plan and DRM in lower end plans

Return on Investment

  • We got more revenue by protecting video against piracy
  • ROI is still not positive as upfront cost we paid is high

Suitable Alternative to Popular Video Streaming Services

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are hosting videos for our and our clients' websites on the platform. This includes both decorative and authoritative videos since web hosting is typically not optimal for hosting and streaming videos. We were looking for a video hosting solution since many clients want to use videos in their website hero sections, and came across Gumlet at an opportune time.

Pros

  • Video hosting
  • Image Hosting
  • Stream videos

Cons

  • More streamlined UI
  • Improve webhook setup
  • Add native integrations for automations

Return on Investment

  • We bundle video streaming into our website maintenance services and Gumlet is one of the many tools that helps us justify a higher price point and better ROI for the client
  • We are still new to Gumlet but I can see the possibility of using Gumlet for live streamed videos
  • The DRM management helps protect video copyrights and reduce copyright infringement
  • The image management helps with image optimization, resizing, etc.

One of the best deal for video hosting & optimization platform that is simple and easy

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Strengths for Gumlet 1) You can host not only videos (Up to 4k Resolution), but they also provide Image CDN (Which is not the best value in terms of pricing IMO). With their Image CDN, and if you're hosting your website in Wordpress, you can easily turn on Gumlet's Image CDN with just one click. Simple & easy. DRM protected feature is also a value added ones. 2) Choosing a CDN we will see how good the delivery speed of the content (video or image), in my case, Gumlet's bandwidth are blazingly fast. Although I did not test it on 4k Video, 1080p video are no bufferings at all, just play instantly. Also, the publishing options widget makes it easier to embed in websites, emails, or share URLs easily. 3) Best for Freelancers / SMEs / Influencers which would like to share their high quality video contents on their desired platform (Either websites, social media platform, email). Weaknesses 1) Gumlet's Image CDN (Which is not the best value in terms of pricing IMO) is a separate pricing compared with their Video CDN. Felt that there are cheapest solutions when comes to Image CDN, such as Bunny CDN, Imgix, Strapi etc) 2) In Gumlet's "Collection", this act as a workspace where I could categorize my videos. Gumlet's Video unable to move video that was uploaded from a collection to another collection. I did contact their support and they have confirmed that the feature will not be implemented in the near future as well ( https://feedback.gumlet.com/feature-requests/p/move-videos-between-collections) . 3) One thing to take note while using Gumlet's Image CDN Wordpress plugins. In my website's Gumlet settings, lazy load image activated, auto compress image activate, use original images activated, browser webp detect activated, Use width activated. I'm using Bricks builder as page builder, if Gumlet CDN is activated, sometimes it will cause Bricks Builder Page builder turns blank page. I'll keep Gumlet plugin deactivated if I would like to do edit and turn it on later on. Maybe there can be some improvement in this area. 4) Lastly, it's the quota limitation for Videos uploaded to the server (Count by minutes). Would be happier if it's file storage or video quantities rather than minutes as it felt inssuficient. Also, in my Appsumo Tier 6 package did not include Image CDN & DRM. The offer is not full fledged, some services allowed subscriptions only.

Pros

  • Charge by minutes of video uploaded but not file sizes or video quantities. Therefore, it's hard to estimate how much video you could produce and host it.
  • There may be some issue when configuring Wordpress, not the best in terms of ease of use
  • Unable to switch uploaded video of a collection to another collection, only able to switch video between Video Playlist.

Cons

  • Provide more uploading limits
  • Provide a more comprehensive guideline
  • Support responses are somehow quick, however technical support speed is lacking.

Return on Investment

  • Able to host high quality videos
  • Able to embed videos to email, this has effectively increase our communication workflow.
  • Visitors are more enjoyable while watching videos in our website

Excellent for 4K streaming, securely sharing, and protecting your videos

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Presenting videos to clients through proposals and emails, embedding them on website, and securely hosting videos for online courses to prevent unauthorized sharing. This product uniquely addresses the latter issue compared to competitors and also provides ample storage space for videos at competitive prices.

Pros

  • streaming videos in 4K
  • protecting videos
  • video storage for online courses
  • great support

Cons

  • player branding - instead of adding logo url, just make users to upload the logo
  • clarify the concept of collections vs video library
  • improve sharing by email to include animated gif of the video instead of still image

Return on Investment

  • It assisted in sharing videos with clients, effectively eliminating issues that were encountered with YouTube.
  • It was an obvious choice due to the development of online courses intended for streaming by customers.
  • It offers features that its competitors lack, and the support team is very quick and helpful.

Usability

Video hosting that works and makes sense.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Gumlet was the perfect solution for us because we needed to privately host video on a fast streaming platform while protecting the rights of the video. One of the selling points was the ability to also brand the player to match our website and branding. These features aren't offered from major players in the market.

Pros

  • Video hosting
  • Video Privacy & DRM
  • Custom branded player
  • Incredible load speed

Cons

  • Integration with Wordpress was lacking imo
  • Would love an elementor integration

Return on Investment

  • Makes our brand look more professional
  • We don't look cheap using free options like YT
